ELLIS: Gladys W. , 97, of Randolph, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. She was born Jan. 13, 1905 in Vermont, the daughter of Arthur and Mina (Badger) Williams. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury and continued her education in Boston at hairdressing school. After graduating from hairdressing school, she returned to St. Johnsbury where she worked as a hairdresser for many years. She owned and operated her own shop for several years in St. Johnsbury. She was married to Theodore Ellis who predeceased her in the 1970s. Mrs. Ellis moved to South Royalton several years ago to live with her sister. In March 2000 she moved to the Windover House in Randolph. She was a former member of the South Congregational Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, both in St. Johnsbury. Gladys enjoyed reading and in earlier years liked spending time at camp. She leaves her sister, Marion Morency of South Royalton, two nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 23, at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday, Sept. 22 from 7-8 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, St. Johnsbury.
