Andrew Lewis Logan, 91 years old, of Carlisle Massachusetts passed away on April 8th 2015 after a period of declining health. Andrew was born on October 31st 1923 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, son of Andrew James Logan (B. 1860 Quebec) and Alice Bernier Logan (B. 1885). Andrew grew up with his younger brother Maurice (Red) Logan, later a dentist in Hanover, NH. All that knew Andrew and Red heard many a wonderful story of their hijinks as children, including pranks like building a snowman on a neighbor's porch, and presenting a young lady with a bouquet of nettles. Andrew attended the St. Johnsbury academy, before joining the Army Air Core in 1942. During WWII, he served as an aerial photographer in North Africa and continued serving in the US Air Force for 20 years. He subsequently worked for the Western Mass Electric company for 25 years, retiring in 1988. Andrew was an accomplished bag piper who taught others and marched in parades for the Shriners and other organizations. He piped at many Dartmouth college graduations, including once leading the parade in front of President Clinton. He shared his lifetime love for ballroom dancing with his wife, and had also taught ballroom dancing when based in London. One of his favorite hobbies was creating beautiful floral garden displays. Andrew was a life long member of the Grange in St. Johnsbury, and Melha Shriners Temple in Springfield, MA. Andrew was married in October 1962 to Marjorie Law of Aberdeen Scotland. They raised their two girls in Springfield MA where they lived for 49 years. He loved his family with all his heart. Andrew is survived by his wife Marjorie Logan, daughter Fiona Sibley, son-in-law Richard Sibley, and their children James & HeatherAnn all of Carlisle, MA, and his daughter Patricia McKibben, son-in-law Daniel McKibben, and their children Adeline, Sadie, & Tessa of Waterbury, Vermont. A memorial service will be held later in the spring when the flowers Andrew so loved are blooming again.
