Benita Passut was a former resident of Danville and St. Johnsbury. She and husband Bob resided in Jenson Beach, Fla., since the early 1990s. Benita passed away there Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the age of 81. She was born in East Barre, Vt., on July 10, 1930, the oldest of three daughters born to Joseph and Marjorie (Hunt) Miller. She attended schools in St. Johnsbury as well as high school at St. Johnsbury Academy. Benita's work experience included working at White's Market in Lyndonville, for her son Jerry at The Convenient One, and as unit secretary on the second floor at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. In Danville she was known for the pies and donuts she made for the former Coffee Cup Restaurant. She is survived by her husband Robert Passut of Jenson Beach, Fla.; her mother Marjorie Damon also of Florida; two sisters: Joy Adler of Mesa, Ariz., Sheila Davies of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; nine children: Gerald R. Boardman Jr. of Danville, Bonnie Boardman and Peter Emmons of Danville, E. Jane Bronson and husband Dr. Elliot Kaplan of Gilsum, N.H., Susan Deslauriers and husband Raymond of Holyoke, Mass., David J. Boardman of Yadkinville, N.C., Paul E. Boardman of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Sheila McCarthy and husband Kevin also of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Ellen Zieske and husband James of Wilmington Mass., James A. Boardman of Beaverton, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and their families. Two of Bob's three sons are also surviving: Brent Passut and wife Pat of St. Johnsbury, Barry Passut of South Burlington, and Blaine's wife Pam Passut of St. Johnsbury, and their families; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Ruth Cousins, an infant son Stephen, her father Joseph Miller, her former husband Gerald Boardman Sr., and Bob's son Blaine Passut. Services will be held in St. Johnsbury this Sunday, March 18, at 3 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church. The church pastor, the Rev. Kirk Thompson, will officiate at the service.
