Mrs. Blendine Vance, 89, of St. Johnsbury Center died Saturday, October 18, 2014 with family at her side. She had resided at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center since April. She was born in Newport, Vt., on February 26, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Cole) Webb. On May 25, 1947 she married Francis Vance, who passed away in August of last year. She was also predeceased by her sister Beryl Prive and by an infant brother Arthur. Blendine was employed as a bookkeeper at the CH Goss Co. where Francis also worked. She later worked as a bookkeeper at the Ford dealership in St. Johnsbury throughout the Rambush, Maple Center, and Wayne Ford eras. She was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and created beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. The family loved camping at Island Pond and the Willow Wood Campground at Willoughby Lake. She loved quilting, knitting, embroidering, and baking, especially Christmas cookies. Over the years Blendine looked forward to the regular monthly get-togethers with her graduating class of 1943 as well family Christmas gatherings. Blendine and Francis traveled the roads of Vermont visiting every zip code in the state. They also traveled with their motor home to Disney World in Florida every winter following his retirement. A good excuse to travel was so they could visit their grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, Michael Vance and wife Kathy of St. Johnsbury Center; Brenda Tessmann and husband James of Williston; Donald Vance and wife Pam of Lyndonville; Robin Ishak and husband Andy of Maryland; 12 grandchildren, Michael and Kathy's five children Kandy, Dawn, Jesse, Michelle, and Jason; Brenda and James' three children James, Nathan, and Marybeth; Donald and Pam's daughter Amanda; and Robin and Andy's three children Alec, Carter, and Benjamin; all her great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A visiting hour will be held at the Guibord Funeral Home in Lyndonville on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m where funeral services will follow at 12 Noon. Mr. John Sleeper will officiate. Burial will follow in the Newport Center Cemetery.
