Clarence F. Jarry MONTPELIER - Clarence F. Jarry, 93, of Forest Drive, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at the Central Vermont Medical Center. He was born in St. Johnsbury on Independence Day in 1925, the son of Henry and Beatrice (Ste. Marie) Jarry. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in the class of 1942. On May 19, 1947, he married Yvonne Boutin from Island Pond. For over 71 years, they shared the most loving marriage any couple could hope for. Clarence worked for the A&P Tea Co. from 1942 until 1977 when he went on to manage the Norwich University Book Store. He retired from that position on June 1, 1988. He enjoyed sports and played softball for various leagues for many years. He also enjoyed candlepin bowling, horseshoes and cribbage. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Horseshoe League and the Montpelier Cribbage League. Clarence was a 3rd degree, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne, of Montpelier; his children Claire Pike and husband Les, of Stowe, Susan Markoff and husband Ned, of Webster, Massachusetts, Joanne Arey and husband Dana, of Enfield, New Hampshire, and Paul Jarry and wife Pamela, of South Burlington; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels program.
