Essex Junction, VT - Cutler Gage Drew, 93, of Essex Junction, passed away July 25, 2019 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester. Cutler was born in St. Johnsbury, May 27, 1926 to Charles and Clara (Anderson) Drew. After graduating from St. Johnsbury trade school in 1944, Cutler went to work for Bell Air Craft, then to General Electric where he worked for 37 years until his retirement in 1987. In August 1988, Cutler married his loving wife, Elizabeth. They were married for 30 years and made many happy memories together. Cutler loved hunting, especially his trips to Newfoundland and Anticosti Island. He enjoyed ice fishing, golfing, attending gun shows, and his Thursday luncheons at JP's with Dr. Paulson and their buddies. Until a few years ago, Cutler was a licensed gun dealer, his favorite a pre-64 Winchester 30-30. He was a life member of the BPOE #916 in Burlington. Cutler will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Cutler was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Clara Drew, a sister Arlene and brothers Charles and Ken. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Elizabeth, his son Jeffrey Drew and his wife Kathleen of Cary, NC and his daughter Kathy Riegler and her husband John of Locus Dale, VA. Also surviving are his extended family; very special step-daughter Sharon Gaughin and her partner Peter Pitts of Boston, MA, Richard Herbert of Essex Junction, Cyril Lloyd, Robert Lloyd and his partnerTammy, Kathy Hulsmann and her husband Giles, Renee Lafountaine, Ruth Martel and her husband Tim, very special friend Paul Gosslin, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the members of Essex Rescue, the staff on Miller 5 at the UVM Medical Center and staff at McClure Miller Respite House for their gentle, loving and skillful care. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1063 Prim Road, Colchester, VT. A reception in the parish hall will follow.
