John W. Flanders, P.E. passed away on October 5, 2018 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of Linde Flanders nee Patterson of Innsbrook, Missouri; He is survived by his four daughters, Lori (David) Perry of Sidney, IL, Lisa Holloman of Kirkwood, MO, Lynna (Robert) Neiman of Dewitt, MI, Diana (Marc) Thompson of Southaven, MS; brother, David (Joyce) Flanders of Pottstown, PA; 12, grandchildren, 7, great-grandchildren, 1,great-great-grandchildren; He is preceded in death by his father, Adelbert Flanders, mother, Emily Flanders nee Allan. John proudly served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the 432nd Engineer Construction Battalion. He helped to rebuild Europe after World War II during the Korean War conflict. He attended the University of Vermont and University of Illinois where he obtained his degree in Civil Engineering. He was a Senior Director of Computer Science at McAuto, a division of McDonnell Douglas. John was an active member at Harmonie Church located in Innsbrook, MO. He led a very active life including tutoring elementary students in first grade at Wright City Elementary School and he was the former president of Fort Bellefontaine Historical Society in St. Louis, MO. He taught and facilitated a men's bible study group at John Knox Church located in Florissant, MO. He was a Lewis and Clark era historic re-enactor and he enjoyed growing roses in his garden. John's true passion was woodworking and fixing and designing items for his home. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
