Lawrence A. Nelson LANGHORNE, PA - Lawrence A. Nelson, 82, of Langhorne, PA, died on Aug. 9 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. Born in Woodsville, NH, Lawrence was a former longtime resident of Levittown. Lawrence was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and Korea. He received his degree in mechanical design from Temple University and he was a retired mechanical designer from GE Astro, Hightstown, NJ, where he worked for 40 years. Lawrence was a life member, fire policeman, and former treasurer of Levittown Fire Co. No. 1; a member of Fallsington American Legion No. 834 and Faith Reformed Church of Levittown. He was active with the Boy Scouts and the Masonic Order, and he enjoyed traveling, and yard work, and was considered to have a green thumb. His family and grandchildren were the focus of his life. Lawrence was the son of the late Philip and Beatrice Wright Nelson, and the devoted husband of the late Wilda Nixon Nelson. He was the father of Rebecca and her husband, Donald Worrell, of East Windsor, NJ, Leora and her husband, Dennis Hornick, of Riegelsville, PA, and Philip and his late wife, Joanna Nelson, of Somers, CT. He was the proud grandfather of Erin Worrell and Hilary (Matthew) Vannozzi, Briona Nelson, Philip Nelson, Sarah Thanel, Tabitha Albert, and Stephen Babij, and the great grandfather of six. Lawrence was the brother of the late Chandler Nelson and brother-in-law of Richard and Barbara Nixon and Mary Nixon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his dear friend, Ruth Miller. Relatives and friends are invited to Lawrence's life celebration on Friday, Aug. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., and to his funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Beck/Givnish Funeral Home, 7400 New Falls Rod., Levittown, PA, (215) 946-7600. Interment will follow in Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem, PA.
