Popzi Bushway Logan , 84, died at her home in Norwich, Vt., Friday morning, April 3, 2009. Popzi was born March 9, 1925, in Cambridge, Mass., and grew up in Massachusetts and St. Johnsbury, Vt. The name Popzi was lovingly rendered to her by her two older brothers. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. Subsequently she attended nursing school at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge and practiced as a Registered Nurse for several years. She was married to Dr. Red Logan, a local dentist, in 1948. The couple moved to Norwich in 1957 where the family has made a home for the past 52 years. Popzi was active in Norwich community life for many years. She was particularly instrumental in developing the Norwich Christmas pageant. She was very active in the Women's Guild at St. Barnabas Church and worked tirelessly on other events including the Norwich Book Fair. She was a member of the Norwich Women's Club and was a board member of the Brookhaven School for Boys in Chelsea, Vt. She was an avid sports fan, especially her Boston Red Sox, and she loved professional tennis. Most important in her life were her children, grandchildren and her beloved cats. She was predeceased by her husband Red, her son David Bushway Logan and a brother Collin Bushway. Popzi leaves a son Dr. Mark E. Logan of Rutland and his partner Kelly Sweck, both of Rutland, Vt., a daughter Amy Logan of Hanover and her husband Doug Lantz, grandchildren Jesse Logan, Sarah Logan, Alison Logan, Samuel Logan, Lyndsay Leach and Ryan Leach, D.J. Lantz, a brother Alan Bushway of Concord, N.H., as well as nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the Hilltop Cemetery in Norwich Tuesday at 2 p.m. followed by a reception at the Hanover Inn for family and friends. Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Barnabas Church, PO Box 306, Norwich, VT 05055, the Green Mountain Club, 4711 Waterbury-Stowe Rd, Waterbury Center, VT 05677 or the, VNA and Hospice of VT and NH, P.O.
