RHODA G. MASSIE COLCHESTER - Rhoda G. Massie, 78, of Colchester died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010
in The Arbors of Shelburne after a long illness. She was born on Aug. 24, 1932 in St. Johnsbury,
the daughter of the late Martin and Lidia Whitehill. Rhoda was married in June of 1954 to Paul S. Massie.
He later predeceased her in 1990. She worked for 43 years as a
registered nurse for the State of Vermont and later retired in 1995.
She was also a member of the Odd Fellows and the Colchester
Historical Society. In addition to her husband, Paul, Rhoda was also
predeceased by her sister, Thelma Gilman. Rhoda is survived by her
three sons, Mark Massie and his wife, Linda, of Williston, Matthew
Massie and his wife, Louise Curtis, of Burlington, and Mike Massie;
eight grandchildren, Shane, Joshua, Corey, Sherri, Kami, April, Jamie,
and Jeremiah; nine great-grandchildren; her nephew, Kenneth
Gilman of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. The family
would like to give a special thank you to the nursing staff at The
Arbors for their years of special care and kindness. Funeral services
will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no
visiting hours. Arrangements are by the LaVigne Funeral Home and
Cremation Service, 132 Main St., Winooski.
