MORENCY: Rita L. , 79, of 95 Cross Ave. in St. Johnsbury Center (St. Johnsbury, VT 05819), passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She was born in St. Johnsbury, April 27, 1922, the daughter of Alcide and Leda (Fournier) Morency. Preceding her in death were her father in 1979, her mother in 1987, and her brother, the Rev. Rosario A. Morency, in 1991. She is survived by her sister, Claire G. Morency, with whom she lived, and several cousins. A lifelong resident of St. Johnsbury, Rita graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in 1941. Before beginning her career with the Vermont State Employment Service in 1950, she worked as a candy packer at Maple Grove, and later as a dental assistant for Dr. Perley Hartwell. Rita retired from the Vermont State Employment Service in 1980 as an employment counselor, a very satisfying career to her. Over the years many people approached her to say, "You got me my job 25 years ago!" Rita was an active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church and served on many committees. In recent years, she aided Father Lively in setting up his communion calls. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Committal services will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon for all relatives and friends will follow at the Lincoln Inn. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. Visiting hours will conclude with a vigil service at 4:45 p.m. Contributions may be made in Rita's memory to the Good Shepherd School, P.O.
