Shirley Claire Impey , 86, of Woodsville, N.H., died June 18, 2010, at the
Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, N.H., following a period of
failing health. She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., July 13, 1923, the
daughter of Walter C. and Bessie (Wooten) Lowrey. A longtime Woodsville
resident, Shirley was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the
ECW Group of the Church. She was also a member of the Cottage Hospital
Auxiliary and volunteer at the hospital. She was predeceased by a son,
Donald Gary Smith of Burlington, Vt., and by two grandsons, Shawn Smith
of Sutton, Vt., and Bruce Impey of South Royalton, Vt. Survivors include
her life partner Donald Smith; one daughter, Mary-Ellen Andrews of Palm
Beach, Fla.: five sons, Michael Smith of Sutton, Vt., Brian Smith of
Richmond, Vt., Terry Impey of North Haverhill, N.H., Shaun Impey of South
Royalton, Vt., and Dennis Impey of North Haverhill; 20 grandchildren and
several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. At Shirley's
request there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. Memorial
