Albert Elmer Gravelin, 85, formerly of South Burlington, died on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Residence at Shelburne Bay. He was born in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont on July 18, 1932 the son of the late Elmer and Leona (Lussier) Gravelin. On February 23, 1952, he married Yvonne LeClerc of Saint Johnsbury and they enjoyed 66 wonderful years together. They were long standing devoted members of the Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington, VT. Al worked for Westinghouse for several years before joining IBM in 1965 and excelled to a position staff engineer, working in various departments until his retirement in 1991. Al enjoyed researching family history, stamp collecting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and playing cribbage; he found time to teach all his children the pleasures of freshwater angling. He is survived by his wife Yvonne LeClerc Gravelin of So. Burlington; his nine sons: Richard of South Burlington; Denis and Kathryn (Lamothe) of South Hero; Robert and Cynthia (Yoder) of Kasugai, Japan; David of Colchester; Michael and Maureen (Labraney) of Shelburne; Rod and Monique (Houde) of Georgia; Thomas and Laurie (Sargent) of South Burlington; Todd and Lynn (Meunier) of Georgia; and, James and Jennifer (Fielder) of Shelburne. In addition he leaves 21 grand children, and 9 great grand children, including one due in February. Al is also survived by sister-in-law Theresa and Conrad Doyon and several nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his sister-in-law Bernie Durrse, brothers-in-law Reverend Gerald LeClerc and Brother Robert LeClerc. Calling hours will be held Wednesday January 24, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Ready Funeral Home and Cremation Services South Chapel 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 25th at 1:00 PM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church Hinesburg Rd, South Burlington with burial to take place after the Mass in Resurrection Park. Those who wish memorial contribution may be made in Al's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
