Charles Nicholas "Nick" McCuen, of Zephyrhills, passed away peacefully at home, with wife Missy by his side, on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 after being in declining health from acute myeloid leukemia. He was born in 1941 and raised in Vermont, and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 1959. He served the U.S. Navy from 1959-63. Nick lived for over 20 years in Franklin County, where he worked as a chef at the Gibson Inn for many years, and then finished out his career as managing partner of The Blue Parrot Oceanfront Café on St. George Island. In retirement in Central Florida, he spent most of his time speaking within the surrounding communities, sharing his experience, strength and hope about alcoholism. He was of great service to his community and has inspired countless people through the years to continue to stay sober. A celebration of Nick will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 6360 Spring Lake Circle, Zephyrhills.
