Enfield, NH - Elmer David Santaw, 80, of Enfield, passed away at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT on Saturday, October 27, 2018. He was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on March 25, 1938 to Ella Mae (LaBounty) and Richard A. Santaw. He attended school in Concord, VT and St. Johnsbury Trade School before marrying Diane Rolston on June 3, 1961 in East Hartford, CT. Elmer served his country proudly in the U.S. Army between 1961 and 1965. He retired as a Machinist from New Jersey Machine in 2004 after 30 years of service. He drove the courtesy shuttle for the Miller Auto Group. Elmer volunteered and drove the courtesy van for Prouty. He was a member of the American Legion Post #22 in Lebanon, NH, the Elks in Lebanon, NH, and the VFW in White River Junction, VT. Elmer, or "Lefty" as he was called by friends, loved sports and was active in bowling, horseshoes, and men"s softball leagues. Elmer loved fishing, hunting, and anything that took him outdoors. The loves of his life were his family and his pets. Elmer loved country western music, listening to his wife, Diane, sing, and dancing. He was a loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan; we know he's thrilled that the Sox won the World Series! Elmer is survived by his wife, Diane Santaw of Enfield, NH; daughter, Jane Ella (Homer Taylor) Santaw of Pike, NH; son, David (Katie) Santaw of Lyme, NH; granddaughter, Stacey Lynn Santaw; grandsons, Michael David (Hannah Blanchard) Santaw of Enfield, NH and Truman James Kimball of Denton, TX; great granddaughter, Bella Lynn Santaw; siblings, Fran (Wes) Colby, Bea Spreadbury, Richard (Brenda) Santaw II, and Gary (Janice) Santaw; and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Sid Spreadbury, Jr. Memorial Calling Hours for Elmer will be held at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon, NH from 1-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, Pastor Lloyd Wiley presiding.
