Kenneth Ronald Blay, Sr., age 80, of Sherburne Road, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday Morning, November 21, 2018, at his home. Ken was born and raised in St. Johnsbury, VT. He was born on October 8, 1938, to the late Raymond and Mildred Pearl (Ferris) Blay. He was educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from St. Johnsbury Trade School in 1957, began working at Fairbanks Morse in the foundry and served in the VT Army National Guard for 7 years. In 1957 he also married Drucilla Lamothe and raised 3 children over the many years they shared together. Ken was a truck driver all his life, learning on the job at Caledonia Sand & Gravel at a young age and worked for just about everyone over his career including Jimmy Noyes, Rustic Brick, Old Fox, Lyndonville Furniture, Tri-state Drilling and Sorrel's Trucking. He loved working on his vehicles, running his tractor, hunting and fishing, especially from his boat. He is survived by Drucilla of Wheelock, his daughter: Julie Simpson and husband, Steve, of Newport, VT, 2 sons: Ken Blay, Jr., and wife, Tina Knox-Blay, of Winslow, ME, Jeff Blay of Sheffield, VT, 3 sisters-in-law: Joyce Tatreault, Judy Folford, Sylvia James, a brother-in-law: Richard Tetreault, a nephew: Brian Mosher (Fatima)9 grandchildren: Devin(Megan), Justin(Becky), Nathaniel(Marie) and Jeremy(Joslyn) Simpson, Hannah Blay, Josh Blay, Austin Knox-Blay & McKenzie Knox-Blay, Tucker Blay( Elizabeth Ball), and Tucker's mother, Kiki Willey, 14 great-grandchildren and friends: Shirlene, Alton and Ramona.. He was predeceased by 2 brothers: Robert Blay and Charles Mosher. At Ken's request there will be no services or calling hours at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held next summer.
