Mildred J. (Guy) Stuart, of Concord, Vt., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning July 29, 2012, under the loving care of her family. She was born July 4, 1934, in St. Johnsbury; the daughter of William and Beatrice (Cochran) Guy. Mildred graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1952 and married Henry L. Stuart Jr. on Dec. 20, 1958. For over 25 years Mildred worked at the Prudential Insurance Company office in St. Johnsbury as the office manager. She spent her free time Mildred J. (Guy) Stuart volunteering in many ways always touching the lives of others. She served as an assistant to the long-time Concord Town Clerk Maurice Bouchard, prepared tax returns for many community members, and spent time in many capacities as a member of the Moose Lodge / Women of the Moose in St. Johnsbury. She also served as a 4-H leader when her girls were younger. In her free time she played bingo, took bus trips to Foxwoods Casino, created beautiful landscape paintings and played games with her family. She enjoyed a special group of lady friends who regularly got together to celebrate their friendship and company. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include her husband of nearly 54 years, Henry L. Stuart Jr. of Concord; their two daughters, Susan Noyes and husband Danny of Concord and Cynthia Stuart and her husband William Humphrey of Concord; three grandchildren, Caleb and Evan Humphrey and Regan Noyes; a sister, Erma Perry of Cabot; her twin brother, Murray Guy of California; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her granddaughter, Shelby Noyes. Memorial services will be held in St. Johnsbury Thursday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Sayles Funeral Home with the Rev. Ann Hockridge officiating. Burial in Grove Cemetery in East St. Johnsbury will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on the family Wednesday evening, Aug. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations made in her memory may be directed to the Good Shepherd School, 121 Maple Street, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
