Barbara Jean Chaffee , age 66, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, after an
extended illness in the Hamrick Home. Born Jan. 1, 1943, in St.
Johnsbury, she had been a resident of Okeechobee for the past 15
years. She served in the Peace Corps and taught at both Osceola
Middle School and the Yearling Middle School. She is survived by her
sisters, Claire Fellows (Emery) of Danville, Lee Chaffee of Goffstown,
N.H., Rose Hirst (John) of Boiling Springs, N.C.; brothers, William B.
Chaffee (Janet) of Florida, Michael P. Chaffee (Vivian) of Amarillo,
Texas. In addition she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great
nieces and nephews. There will be no public viewing or services. In
lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of
Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fl 34973.
