WINOT: Bruce J., 52, of 48 Mountain Ave., St. Johnsbury, died at home Friday, March 22, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Claremont, N.H., March 25, 1949, the son of Theodore and Doris (Ouellette) Winot. He attended elementary schools in Claremont, moved with his family to St. Johnsbury and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1968. He married Linda Thompson, Nov. 1, 1969. From 1968-1972 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and 17 years in the National Guard. He was a 21-year employee of Baker Commodities and was a member of the American Legion Post 58. For many years, Bruce coached area youth in softball, baseball, football and wrestling. Bruce is survived by his wife Linda; a daughter, Kara and husband Jason Coons of Kirby; a son, Jon and wife Tracy Winot of Kirby; a granddaughter, Kortney Coons, with whom he enjoyed a very special relationship; his parents, Ted and Doris Winot of St. Johnsbury; his mother-in-law, Ruth Brown of Lyndonville; four sisters, Debra and husband Fred Priest of St. Johnsbury, Salli and husband Wayne Lewis of Waterford, Bobbi and husband Rick Utley of West Burke, Darcie and husband David Brill of St. Johnsbury; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie and husband Pete Sheltra of Spring Hill, Fla., and Patricia Hubbard of Waterford; a brother-in-law, Duane Thompson of Lyndonville; many nieces and nephews; and many very special friends. Visiting hours will be held Monday, March 25, from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home and will conclude with an evening vigil service. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 26, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury.
