SCARBOROUGH-- Joshua Aaron Beardsley, 42, passed away March 17, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Josh was born August 28, 1975 the oldest of four boys to Richard and Christine M. (Ballard) Beardsley Sr. As a young boy he spent his early years growing up in Sutton, MA before moving to South Ryegate, VT as a teenager. He was a 1995 graduate of the Blue Mountain School and went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Lyndon State College. Upon graduation, he moved to Maine where he met his future wife, Erin Knott. The two were married on August 26, 2006 and have been in love ever since. Josh had a knack for everything technology and was employed as a cameraman for Channel 13 WGME for a short time before his employment at Eastern Mountain Sports in Portland. He also founded Beardsley Media Production and worked creating video media for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, something he was very passionate about. Josh was an outdoor enthusiast and had a passion for ice climbing, rock climbing, and camping, especially with his wife. Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the young age of 6, Josh never let his illness define him or prevent him from doing the things he loved most, especially caring for and supporting his young family. He was an incredibly thoughtful and loving husband and father to his beloved children, Lily and Aidan. Josh’s strength through illness was inspirational, his kindness to others influential, and his joy for life was infectious. As Josh would say, "Hug your loved ones and enjoy every minute." He is survived by his loving wife Erin Beardsley of Gorham; children Lily and Aidan Beardsley of Gorham; parents, Richard and Christine Beardsley Sr. of New Hampshire; brothers, Richard Beardsley Jr. of Woodsville, NH, Michael Beardsley and his wife Joey Lynne of Topsham, and Jonathan Beardsley and his significant other Melissa Heath of Danville, VT; maternal grandparents Joseph and Dorothy Ballard of Sutton, MA; nieces and nephews, Noah, Violet, Leo, Sophia and Jaden; mother and father in law Ronald and Diane Knott of Gorham, and brother in law Daniel Knott and his wife Leigh-ann Smith of Windham. Josh was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Joseph “Harry” and Amelia Beardsley. A celebration of life will be held on April 14th from 3-6pm at Parker’s Restaurant, 1349 Washington Ave., Portland, ME 04103. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joshua’s name may be made to: www.secondwindforjosh.org OR Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Avenue, Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814, www.cff.org.
