STEENLAND: John, 84, of 2215 Lily Pond Road, Lyndonville, passed away at his residence, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. He was born Aug. 18, 1918 in Oslo, Norway, the son of the late Bernhard and Olga (Anderssen) Steenland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Before retiring he worked as the superintendent of buildings and grounds at St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury. He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Jorgensen) Steenland of Lyndonville; his children and their spouses, Jane and Keith Goulding of Lyndonville, and Tom and Melissa Steenlandof Williston; a son-in-law and his wife, David and Marcia Sanderson of Princeton, W.Va.; his grandchildren, John Sanderson, Michael Sanderson, Danny Sanderson, Bonnie Kenyon, Karl Goulding, Kimberly Bouffard, Karen Goulding, Ryan Steenlandand Erik Steenland; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Thelma Steenland and Carol Sanderson; and a granddaughter, Cathy Sanderson. Visiting hours will be held at the Pearsons Funeral Home, Saturday, Feb. 8, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., and the funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. William Cotte officiating. Burial will be in the Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke in the spring. Those who wish may send contributions in his memory to either Hospice, in care of Caledonia Home Health Care Agency, P.O.
