June E. Havers , 91, of 324 Gilman Ave., St. Johnsbury, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Sept. 28, 2006. She was born and grew up in Bellows Falls on Jan. 28, 1915, the daughter of Perley and Cora (Blanchard) Huntoon. She graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1932 and from Baypath Business School in Springfield, Mass., in 1934. She and Thomas Havers were married Feb. 21, 1937. June performed secretarial work for a number of employers; from 1965-1972 she was secretary to the principal, Lewis Streeter, at St. Johnsbury Trade School and transferred to St. Johnsbury Academy when the Academy built the vocational building. There she was secretary to assistant headmasters Louis Gehlbach and Ray Frey. June was a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1933. She was past president of the St. Johnsbury Country Club Women's Golf Association. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women's group. She is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Ann Blum of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sons, Thomas R. Havers and his wife Betty (Groom) of Williston, and James Havers and his wife Susan (Byrne) of Mechanicsville, Va.; five grandchildren, Lori Reine and her husband Richard of Bedford, N.H., Jason Havers and his wife Erica of South Burlington, Aaron Havers of South Burlington, Matthew Havers and his wife Sarah of Stephens City, Va., and Evan Havers and his wife Melinda of Indianapolis, Ind.; six great-grandchildren, Devon and Emma, Claudia and Alicia, Cody, and Brady; her sister, Alma Koledo of Claremont, N.H.; and numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A sister, Laura Damon; and brothers, Richard, Robert and Ralph, predeceased her. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. John Marshall, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Sayles Funeral Home Saturday evening6-8 p.m. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for all those people who gave of themselves at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center to make June's stay there as comfortable as possible.
