Linda L. Chase , 61, of North Concord, died peacefully at her home Friday morning March 19, 2010, following a long courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born Feb. 27, 1949, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Carl and Frances (Shattuck) Warren Jr. Linda was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. Linda worked as a nurse's aide for several years. Later she worked in Lyndonville as a taxi driver for Morse Taxi, and then she drove for RCT. She had worked for a time as a para-educator at the Lyndon Town School, and had worked at the Riverside Life Enrichment Center. Her family was most important to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed mothering all who knew her. Family outings, cooking, knitting, sewing and crocheting for family and friends brought her much pleasure. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include her companion of five years, Larry MacDougall of North Concord; six children, William Currier of St. Johnsbury, Darlene Haugwitz and husband Patrick of Newport, Sheryl Derrington and husband Alan of Bethlehem, N.H., Brenda Chase of Gilman, Carol Jewett and husband Arlen of Wheelock, and Barbara Chase and fiancée Chuck Ridgway of Sheffield; 13 grandchildren, Joshua, Homer, Todd, Tiffany, Tanya, Jennifer, Cortney, Jason, Elizabeth, Cody, Alex, Sophie and Dakota; a sister, Rebecca Hedges and companion Dave Warren of Barre; a nephew, PFC Aaron Hedges, who is serving in Iraq; and several very close friends. Linda was predeceased by her parents; and her husband of 29 years, David Chase Sr., in 2004. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 23 at 11 a.m. at Guibord Funeral Home with Mr. John Sleeper officiating. Weather permitting, burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury. There will be no calling hours. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors who cared for her over the last five years. Their dedication, compassion and excellent care was greatly appreciated.
