SARGENT: Margaret, 96, of Ryegate, Vt., passed away at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center in St. Johnsbury Friday, Jan. 23, 2004. She was born May 18, 1907, in Ryegate, the daughter of the late Colin and Ethel (Symes) McDonald. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland Sargent. She and her husband owned and operated the Mapleridge Dairy Farm, where they raised registered Jersey cattle. She was a farm wife and a milk tester for several years, and was secretary and treasurer of the Vermont Jersey Cattle Club for 30 years. She is survived by her four sons and their wives, Philip and Dorothy Sargent of Burlington, N.J., George and Nancy Sargent of Rockville, Conn., Robert and Cheryl Sargent of Ryegate Corner, Vt., and Donald and Diane Sargent of South Ryegate, Vt.; and by 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and by a former daughter-in-law, Rose Socha of Stafford Springs, Conn. Those who wish may send contributions in her memory to the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab in care of the Patients Activity Fund, 1248 Hospital Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05851. A memorial service and burial at the Blue Mountain Cemetery in Ryegate Corner will take place later in the spring. Pearsons Funeral Service, 70 Church Street, Lyndonville, Vt.
