Beverly A. Gordon, of Lyndonville, died Tuesday morning March 2 1, 2006, at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon, at the age of 85. She was born Dec. 5, 1920, in St. Johnsbury, daughter of the late Carroll J. and Eva B. (LaClair) Gordon. A graduate of Lyndon Institute's Class of 1939, she later graduated from the Brightlook Hospital School of Nursing in 1943, along with her sister Norma. Bev worked as a registered nurse for Brightlook Hospital in St. Johnsbury until it closed and moved to the new Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, also in St. Johnsbury, until her retirement in 1991, completing 50 years of nursing. She continued helping out at the hospital after her retirement as a volunteer. An Avid Red Sox and Celtics fan, she also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. In her later years she enjoyed attending the Riverside Life Enrichment Center in Lyndon. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Crocker and her husband Jim of East Ryegate; three grandchildren, Michael Crocker and his wife Kristina of Worcester, Vt., Todd Crocker and his wife Amy and their daughter Abigail of North Haverhill, N.H., and Jeffrey Crocker of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Carl "Joe" Gordon and his wife Betty of Sutton; a sister, Edna Mills of Lyndonville; her niece and her husband, Carol and Kevin Ruggles and family of Sutton; two nephews and their wives, Robert and Cindy Mills and family of Colebrook, N.H., and Gordon and Susan Mills and family of Lyndonville; and close family friends, Donna and Avery Rowell of East St. Johnsbury. She was predeceased by her sister, Norma Austin, in 1998. Friends may call on the family Friday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday afternoon, March 25, at 1 p.m., at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lyndonville with the Rev. Stephen Nichols celebrant. Burial in Lyndon Center Cemetery will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory may be directed to the Pines Patient Activities Fund, 601 Red Village Road, Lyndonville, VT 05851. Arrangements are by Guibord Funeral Home, located on the corner of Main and Center Streets, Lyndonville.
