Belfast ME - Paul Lyndon Hazard, 74 years of age, passed away on June 5, 2017, at Harbor Hill Center. Born September 21, 1942, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Paul was the son of Clarence Hazard and Jessie (Chisholm) Hazard. He attended schools in Watertown, Massachusetts, and Lyndonville, Vermont, and graduated from Lyndon Institute in Lyndon Center, Vermont, Class of 1960. Paul graduated from the University of Vermont in 1964, where he was a member and President of Lambda Iota Fraternity. He graduated from Naval Officer Candidate School and Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1965. He served as an Engineering Officer and Legal Officer on board the USS ARNEB (AKA-56) homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. In 1967, he married Linda Bates of Woodstock, Vermont. Paul graduated from the University of Maine, School of Law, in 1971 and joined the Law Practice of Roger F. Blake of Belfast, Maine, as an associate and later as a partner where he specialized in Real Estate Law. He was a member of The First Church in Belfast, the Belfast Curling Club and was a member and past President of the Belfast Rotary Club. Paul was a 52-year member and past Master of Belfast Lodge of Masons. He was a member of all of the York Rite Masonic Bodies of Belfast and a member of Scottish Rite of Masonry Bodies. He was a 42-year member of Anah Shriners of Bangor, and for many years had been Pipe Major of the Anah Highlanders' bagpipes and drums band. He was also a past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Maine. Paul enjoyed traveling, cruising and fishing trips to West Grand Lake with Roger, Dave, Steve, and Bob. He was predeceased by his wife, Linda; his eldest daughter, Kathleen (Kate); and a grandson, William Mohler. Paul is survived by a daughter, Molly Hazard-Mohler and her husband, Paul Mohler, of Cary, North Carolina; as well as three grandchildren, Kathryn, Caroline and Andrew Mohler of Cary. He is also survived by his best friend, traveling companion and domestic partner, Judith Bailow of Yarmouth. Those who wish may make donations in Paul's memory to the scholarship fund of the Belfast Rotary Club, P.O. Box 74, Belfast, ME 04915. Services may be held at a later time at the convenience of the family.
