David E. Hamel, age 69, of Lunenburg, Vermont., passed away Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2015, at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He married the former Carman M. (Simpson) on April 21, 1979, and they have shared 36 years, she survives him. David was born in Lyndonville, Vermont., on Nov. 22, 1945, son to the late Antonio Joseph and Beulah Margaret (Coe) Hamel. He was raised and educated in Lyndon graduating from Lyndon Institute. He served six years with the Vermont National Guard and owned and operated Dave's Remodeling and Construction. His work was more than a career to him; it was more of an art form. Dave was a member of the Lyndonville American Legion Post #58, the St. Johnsbury Moose Club and the Coppertop Inn on Wilderness Road. He was a past member of the St. Johnsbury American Legion Post #30. Over the years he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, bowling, pool, throwing darts, drinking a beer or having a brandy. He liked to hunt, fish, go four-wheeling but especially telling jokes and shooting the breeze. David loved his children and grandchildren dearly and words cannot express who he truly was or how deeply he was loved. In addition to Carman he is survived by his children: Kristina Hamel of Concord, Vermont, Katrina Hamel and Tyge Searl of St. Johnsbury, Lisa and Patrick Viljanan of Jeffersonville, Vermont, Nathan and Tine McCue of Sheffield, Vermont, Ryan McCue of Lyndonville, Vermont, his three brothers: Howard and his wife, Sandy, of Alexander, New Hampshire, Robert and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Lyndonville, Vermont, Reginald of Fairfax, Vermont, his two sisters: Janice and her husband Jeffrey Welsch of Bedford, Pennsylvania, Cheryl Browning of Wendell, Massachusetts and several cousins nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to calling hours from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015, at the Guibord Funeral Home, 15 Main St. in Lyndonville, Vermont. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
