George Frank Duke, 69, of Englewood, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at the Dayton VA Medical Center with his family at his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Jane (nee Vescio) Duke, son Chris (Jonda) Duke, daughter Nicki (Steve Camp) Duke, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and lifelong childhood friend Bob (Ellie) Toombs. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd Frank and Doria (nee Pilotte) Duke. George was a U.S. Naval veteran Petty Officer 2nd Class serving in the Vietnam War from March 1968 – March 1972. He was a graduate of Lyndon Institute in Lyndon, Vt., where he was co-captain of his high school hockey team, he attended his 50th Class Reunion in 2017. He also was a graduate of Southern State College, enjoyed playing golf, riding his Harley, traveling, guns, was a lifetime member of the NRA and was retired from Emery Worldwide after 28 years. There will be a memorial service Saturday, at Valley Brook Club House, 4000 Valley Brook, Englewood, Ohio 45322 from 4 to 7 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of George may be made to the D.A.V.
