Bruce E. Simpson, 53, of Essex Jct, and formerly of Sutton, died Friday morning May 11, 2012 in Lyndonville surrounded by his loving family. He was born in St. Johnsbury on March 30, 1959, the son of Donald and Constance "Connie" (Elliott) Simpson. He graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1977 were he excelled at football, playing varsity his freshman year and was later captain of the team. Bruce grew up on the Don-Sim Farm in Sutton, Vt. and became a partner in the family farm in 1980. In 1986, he and his family moved across town and proudly ran the Don-Sim Farm II, where his father and uncles were raised. After leaving the farm he then worked for David Patoine at Calendar Brook Cabinetry where he re-established his passion for making custom cabinetry. In 1999 he moved to Jericho, Vt. and worked for Tom Moore Builders. In 2002, he began his legacy as a master craftsman by starting his own business, Simpson Cabinetry, where he designed and hand crafted fine custom cabinetry. He was a lifelong member of the Sutton Freewill Baptist Church and also attended the Jericho Congregational Church. Bruce's strong faith guided him through his life. He was a proud member of the St. Johnsbury Country Club where he enjoyed the competitive and social aspects of the game. He spent most weekends in the Northeast Kingdom with his family and friends. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren instilling in them a strong faith in God, family values and work ethic. Two years ago he rekindled a friendship with Kathy Day Armstrong and their relationship became one they both cherished. They were to be married in August 2012. Survivors include his four children, Ryan Simpson and wife Marci of Sutton, Jacob Simpson and wife Tina of St. Johnsbury, Kristal Renaudette and husband Daniel of Lyndonville, and Erin Delabruere and husband Ben of Sutton; 5 grandchildren, Courteney and Colby Simpson, Emma and Molly Renaudette, and Lawren Delabruere, as well as his expected twin grandsons due this summer; his fiancée, Kathy Day Armstrong of East Burke; his father, Donald Simpson and wife Susan of Sutton and Florida; his brother, Timothy Simpson and wife Diana of Sutton; his sister, Karla Barrett and husband Mark of Sutton; a sister-in-law Daniele Simpson of Sutton; aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Connie Simpson; a grandson, Collin J. Simpson; his infant sister, Susan Simpson; and his brother, John Simpson. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 19 at 11 a.m. at the Sutton Freewill Baptist Church in Sutton, Vt. with the Pastor Michael Murray officiating. Burial will follow in the Sutton Village Cemetery. Friends may call on the family Friday evening from 6-8 at the Guibord Funeral Home in Lyndonville. Visitors are asked to enter the funeral home by the Center Street door and exit the Main Street door.
