SMITH: Rick Jay, 37, of 263 Mountain View Ave., Lyndonville, Vt., passed away Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vt. Rick was born April 20, 1967, the son of Clarence "Big Smitty" Smith and Karlene (Boardman) Smith. He attended school in the town of Lyndon and graduated from Lyndon Institute, Class of 1986. He owned Smitty's Fire Wood, coached his son's T-Ball team, enjoyed spending time with family and friends at camp, enjoyed boating, demolition derby, guns and poker. He is survived by his wife, Lori (Noyes) Smith of Lyndonville; his two children, Taylor and Sydney Smith; his mother, Karlene (Boardman) Smith of Glover, Vt.; his brothers, Smitty and his wife Brenda Smith of Wheelock, Vt., and Jeffrey and his wife Shelly Smith, of Sutton, Vt.; his sisters, Wendy and her husband Chris Griffin of Hingham, Mass.; and Sherri Smith of Bellflower, Calif.; parents-in-law, Phillip and Sybol Noyes of Ganesvoort, N.Y.; sister-in-law Kimberly and her husband Duane Drew of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; his wife's maternal grandmother, Alberta Tanner of Wheelock; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, "Big Smitty" Smith. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Lyndonville Sunday, July 25, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Barbara Dwyer officiating. Burial will be in the Lyndon Center Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the home of Steve and Carolyn Elliott on Vail Hill in Lyndonville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rick's memory can be sent to the Smith Children Trust Fund, P.O. Box 336, Lyndonville, VT 05851.
