Matthew William Kvam, 45, of East Burke, Vt., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. He was born March 8, 1972 in St Johnsbury, Vermont to Cheryl Ann Temple. He attended high school at Lyndon Institute. Matt worked briefly in manufacturing in his early life, however, he was best known as a tremendous entrepreneur with a gift for creating small businesses which led to great success. He started selling items found at yard sales on the internet and advanced to selling imported products through many online avenues. He then taught himself how to screen print and founded his own business which focused on Screen Printing consumer products. He was a man who will be remembered as a hard worker and someone who's mind was always thinking about what project was next. Matt was a devoted father who's daughters were a integral part of his life. He loved taking trips with his girls to Florida to visit Disney World, lay on the beach, and swim with the dolphins. Matt fostered his love of learning new things with his youngest daughter Erin by becoming a beekeeper with her. They planned to plant a beautiful field of sunflowers in the spring to feed their bees. He loved being outdoors and with the help of his family, he created an organic vegetable garden. He also enjoyed spending long weekends at his rustic camp which he affectionately called, "Camp Pigger." Matt was a kind and gentle-hearted person who was deeply loved by everyone he knew. His greatest joys came from playing with his family, helping other people, and learning new things. He had a quirky sense of humor and will always be remembered racing around on 4-wheelers with his grandchildren and giving tractor rides to his newest nephew. He was always available to help fix broken pipes, plow driveways, and offer a listening ear when things were difficult. His sense of adventure led him to take many trips to Caribbean Islands and Central America. Matt is survived by his fiancé Terri Sue Maloney of East Burke and her children Marissa, Melynda, Andrew and Justin; his father Dan Kvam and his wife Pamela Kvam of Newark; his children Angela Coles and her husband Randy Coles of Augusta, Maine, Shani Billings of Lyndonville, and Erin Kvam of East Burke; his sister Danielle Meyers and her husband James Meyers of East Burke; his step brother Troy Rainey and his wife Carly of Sutton;his grandparents Ralph and Shirley Temple of East Burke, and Richard Kvam of St Charles, Minn.; his Aunts and Uncles Cindy Temple and Wayne Krauss of St Johnsbury, David and Joanne Temple of East Burke, Michael and Kathy Temple of Franklin, IN, David and Marie Kvam of St Charles, Minn., many grandchildren, cousins and a nephew; and former spouse Karie Finn. He is predeceased by his mother Cheryl Temple; his grandmother, Valerie Kvam; and his siblings Eric and Katrina Kvam. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19 at Pearsons Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Lyndonville, Vt. There are no calling hours.
