East Burke, Vt. - Shane J. Carr of East Burke, Vt. and Grantham, N.H. passed away at his home on Jan. 8, 2016 at the age of 39 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He returned to Burke to be with family and friends during this battle while being closely guarded by his dog Bella. Shane was born July 8, 1976 and attended elementary school in Burke, Lyndon Institute and Vermont Technical College. Shane was employed in the field of roadway and bridge surveying and engineering working the last several years with Parsons Brinckerhoff as a Senior Construction Inspector, a position that he enjoyed and company where he had many friends. Shane enjoyed sports and cooking and grilling, especially with friends and family.Shane is survived by his parents, Wayne and Susan Sanderson Carr of East Burke, Vt.; one sister Heather Rutledge and her husband Derek and Shane's beloved nieces Jericho and Harper Rutledge and nephew Briar Rutledge of St. Johnsbury, Vt. He also has many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends in the Burke area and across the country that he enjoyed spending time with. A celebration of Shane's life will be held at a later date at the Burke Community Building. Committal services will be held in the spring in the family lot in the Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke, Vt.
