Richard "Dick" W. Barber, 70, of Wheelock, Vt. passed away on
Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at NVRH, St Johnsbury, Vt.,
following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 23, 1942 in Lyndonville, Vt. He was the son of Wendell & Emma (Hubbard) Barber.
Richard grew up on Hubbard Hill (Squabble Hollow), Lyndonville.
He was a 1960 graduate of Lyndon Institute. He served in the Army National Guard and
was honorable discharge in 1960. He served in the US Navy
from Sept. 20, 1959 to June 22, 1960. Richard was a jack of all
trades -- logger, carpenter, owned a ceramic shop and in the
most recent years drove truck. He retired from McDermott
Trucking transporting milk. Recently he drove for Pete & Gerry's
Egg Farm transporting eggs. He also participated in the
volunteer Sheffield/Wheelock Fire Department for years.
Richard took great pride in his daughters, Megan's athletics &
Tammy's showing of her horses. He was almost always spotted
on the sidelines with Kris, watching his grandson Shane
participate in his sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-
wheeling and camping. He enjoyed the companionship of his
trusted golden retriever, "Trigger" who died a year ago and recently his Pomeranian "Shiloh."
He leaves his mother Emma Barber and companion Monique Pauquette, both of the Lyndonville, Vt.
He is also survived by his daughters, Tammy Barber and her
companion Marc Broughton of Passumpsic, Vt. Kristina Barber
of St. Johnsbury, and Megan Bunnell and her husband Trevor of
Danville, Vt.; their mother Sheryl Barber of St. Johnsbury. His
sister, Louise Berry and her companion Kelley of Punta Gorda,
Fla. Three grandsons, Shane LaCroix, Carter and Cole Bunnell.
He was predeceased by his father Wendell and his sister Elaine Lamb.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in the family lot in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery, in Wheelock, Vt.
Family and friends are invited to gather after the graveside
service at the Elks on Western Avenue in St. Johnsbury, Vt. from 4-6 p.m.
