Charles "Ryan" Frazier , 21, of South Burlington, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in Charlotte. Charles Ryan Frazier son, brother, father, husband and friend was a blessing to all of us. He touched us deeply with his loving ways, his kind and generous heart and his quiet thoughtful manner. Ryan was born in Boulder, Colo., on Feb. 18, 1987, the son of Karen (Brunson) Frazier and the late Craig Frazier. He spent his childhood with his mother and brothers in Colorado and South Carolina. His family relocated to Vermont when Ryan was 12. He lived in Barnet and St. Johnsbury and went to high school at the St. Johnsbury Academy. During high school Ryan worked at many jobs, including the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, Kham's Thai Cuisine and Breaktime sandwich shop. He volunteered in the community as a youth mentor and assisted at smoking cessation classes. He graduated with honors from St. Johnsbury Academy in 2005. He completed two years of studies at the University of Connecticut and University of Vermont where he maintained honors status as a triple major in accounting, finance and business administration. While in Connecticut he began working full-time at the Verizon Wireless call center. He was a record-setting employee and received several promotions within his first year before transferring his job to South Burlington, Vt. Several weeks before his high school graduation, Ryan proposed to his high school sweetheart Emily Askren and they were married on Feb. 25, 2006, in St. Johnsbury. They bought their first home in South Burlington in December 2006. On June 24, 2007, they were blessed with the birth of their son, August Christopher. Ryan had endless love and energy for August, making up countless games and dances that only the two of them shared. He loved his family selflessly and tirelessly, strengthening them with his faith as a Christian and leading them in prayer together every day. At this time, Emily is expecting their second child. He loved and cared for his mother, brothers, extended family and family-in-law with all that he was capable of. He always took the time to help both strangers and friends when they had a need, no matter how big or small that need was. We have all lost such an irreplaceable gift in Ryan and know that heaven has gained a precious soul. Ryan is survived by his wife Emily Frazier and his son August Christopher of South Burlington; his mother Karen Frazier of St. Johnsbury; two brothers Tao Young of St. Johnsbury and Christopher Frazier and his wife Jessica Park Frazier of New York, N.Y.; paternal grandmother Hope Frazier of Alexandria, Va.; maternal grandfather Charles Brunson of Charleston, S.C.; mother-in-law Carrie Askren of South Starksboro; father-in-law David Askren of St. Johnsbury; sister-in-laws Natalie Askren and Laurel Askren; his dear friend Patrick Langley; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He also leaves his expected child. He was predeceased by his father Craig Frazier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney's Roman Catholic Church with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery. In Ryan's memory donations may be sent to his family to establish a trust fund for his children.
