, 88, of Island Pond, passed away at his home on Friday, June 16, 2006. He was born in Island Pond on Dec. 18, 1917, the son of Walter "Jim" Somerville and Elizabeth (Nolen) Weatherstone. He graduated from Brighton High School. Cappy worked as a chief clerk for the Canadian National Railroad, at the Berlin, New Hampshire Servo Center. He was a 4th Degree member and financial secretary at the Knight of Columbus Gibbons Council Newport Post #1157. He was also a member of the St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Island Pond. He coached basketball at St. Mary's School in Island Pond until it closed. He also refereed basketball games in the northern Vermont and New Hampshire area. Cappy was a Yankees' fan and loved hunting and fly fishing. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and always welcomed company. In his later years he took up golf. On June 20, 1946, Cappy married the former Laura Wilkins, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughters, Deborah Lefebvre of Island Pond, and Pamela Newland of Eliot, Maine; his grandchildren, Leslie Lefebvre, Jared Lefebvre, Aaron Lefebvre, Adam Lefebvre, Jennifer Bubier, and Jonathan Newland; his great-grandchildren, Trevor and Shelby Dodge, Eric and Abigail Bubier; and his sister, Grace Hurley of North Stratford, N.H. He was predeceased by his brother, William Weatherstone; and by his sister, Phila Russell. A memorial Mass will be held at the convenience of the family at St. James Catholic Church with burial at Lakeview cemetery in Island Pond. , of Lyndonville, died Thursday evening, June 15, 2006, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsbury, at the age of 93. She was born March 6, 1913, in Suifu, China, daughter of the late Frederick N. and Lucy (Holmes) Smith. Catherine graduated from Newton High School in Newton, Mass. She then attended Andover-Newton Theological Seminary and later graduated from the Hartford, Conn., Seminary in 1938 with her bachelor's degree. The Rev. Wood ministered at several Baptist churches throughout Vermont for more than 60 years. She was very proud of her ministry at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury, where she served for many years, until her health forced her to retire. She also led many vacation Bible schools throughout Vermont, was a past president of the American Baptist Women, and served as chaplain for the Vermont Civil Air Patrol. Writing and sharing her life stories and experiences, and helping at the Lyndon State College Library and the East Burke Library brought her much pleasure. She also enjoyed singing, photography, crafts and teddy bears. Survivors include her sister in-law, Geraldine Smith of Pittsfield, Mass.; two nephews, Scott Smith of Pocatello, Idaho, and Denison Smith and his wife Kathy and their children Kelly and Courtney of Newington, Conn.; two nieces, Sandra Smith and Nancy Yanoshak, both of Great Barrington, Mass.; special friends, Teresa Vasko of Lyndon, and Deanna Wesley of Lyndon Center; and all of Catherine's friends and family to whom she ministered. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy D. Wood, in 1966; and her brother, Philip H. Smith, in 2001. Funeral services will be held Sunday June 18, at 1 p.m., at the Lyndon Center Baptist Church with Pastors David Colwell and Dr. Eric Benson officiating. , of Danville, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at home at the age of 65. He was born in Harvey's Hollow, Danville, July 20, 1940, the son of Seymour and Emily Edna (Morse) Hutchinson. Jim was a woodsman who enjoyed being outside whenever possible, cutting firewood and mowing the grass. He had served in the United States Army. Survivors include his brother, William H. Hutchinson; two sisters, Edna Shatney and Ernestine E. Hutchinson; and a sister-in-law, Beulah Hutchinson. He was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore and Eugene. A special thank-you to his close friend and neighbor, Edward J. Hebebrand of Danville. , 101, from Portsmouth, N.H., formerly a long-time resident of Lisbon, passed away June 15, 2006, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Charles Town, W.Va. (near Washington, D.C.) on Dec. 21, 1904, the daughter of Archibald M.S. Morgan and Sarah Shepherd Morgan. She was educated in the local schools there and continued for several years to live and work in that farming country. One of her honors was to be chosen by her county as "Apple Princess" in 1924 at the annual apple blossom festival in nearby Winchester, Va. In the early 1930s, she was introduced to Lisbon native George E. Clark. They married in 1934 and moved into their house on Armstrong Avenue in Lisbon. George E. Clark died in 1983 at the age of 86, and in 1993 Mrs. Clark decided to move from her home of 59 years to an apartment at Langdon Place in Portsmouth to be near her daughter. Florence Clark was active in Friends In Council and other community organizations in Lisbon. She and her husband gave their largest commitment of time and effort to the Church of the Epiphany. Her involvement there included teaching Sunday school, serving on the altar guild, and helping to operate the church rummage sales. Florence's strong constitution, good genes, positive outlook and infectious laugh helped to bless her with a very long, happy and productive life. In recent years, she continued to enjoy reading, knitting, crossword puzzles, and the company of friends and family. She was particularly delighted with a surprise 100th birthday party in December 2004 attended by members of the Church of the Epiphany, other friends, and all of her immediate family. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Cary J. Morgan of Martinsburg, W.Va., and A.M.S. Morgan II of Rippon, W.Va. Family members include a daughter, Sarah "Sally" St. Hilaire of York, Maine; a son, Cary Clark of Hanover, N.H.; grandchildren, Deborah Barry and Clark Noble, both of Manchester, N.H., Christopher Noble of Kittery, Maine, and Lisa and Kristina Clark, both of St. Paul, Minn.; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at the Church of the Epiphany on School Street in Lisbon, with the Rev. Tod Hall as celebrant. Burial will then take place in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Lisbon. A reception will follow at the Ammonoosuc Inn on Bishop Road in Lisbon. passed away Saturday, June 17, 2006, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., from a heart attack. He was 71. Bill was born in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 30, 1934, to Alfred John Torpey of Everett and Mary Winifred Foye of Brighton, Mass. In Boston, he attended the Farragut graded school, the Martin Middle School and, in 1951, graduated in three years with honors from Commerce High School while simultaneously graduating from The Museum School of Art. Bill graduated from Massachusetts College of Art in 1956 with a BFA and from Boston State Teachers College with an MS in education in 1957. Bill was known for convincing his many friends and classmates from Massachusetts College of Art to join him to continue on for their master's right after college. Bill continued his education throughout his lifetime with night classes in computer programming and Spanish at Framingham State College, and he studied architecture at the Boston Architectural Center (BAC) in Boston, Mass. Bill was drafted into the army during the Korean Conflict, but was injured during training and given a medical discharge. On June 21, 1968, in Everett, Mass., he was united in marriage with Mary Margaret Gillis, of Everett. He passed away a few days shy of their 38th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2006. Bill worked as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the state office in downtown Boston for many years. During his time he had advocated for protecting children and seniors in his role as social worker. He developed, before the age of computers, a resource guide for the state of Massachusetts to aide families who were in need. He did this by gathering all of the telephone books for Massachusetts and painstakingly documenting and investigating on telephone and in person resources that would benefit families who had lost their homes, jobs and loved ones. Bill and his wife Mary lived in Malden, Mass., with their daughter Jean-Ellen until their second daughter, Mary Helen, was born and they moved and lived in Rockland, Mass., until 1993. Then Bill and Mary moved into Whitman, Mass., and lived there until 1999 when he had a fall due to his Parkinson's. He was moved to the Embassy House in Brockton, Mass., until July 2001 when he and his wife Mary were moved to the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., to be closer to his daughter and his grandchildren. Bill was a member of Holy Family Church in Rockland, Mass., and Mission Church in Roxbury, Mass. He was also a member of the Rockland Art Association, and the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), also in Rockland. Bill had been an assistant Girl Scout leader for his daughters' Jean-Ellen and Mary Helen's Rockland Girl Scout troop as they were growing up and volunteered many hours helping the girls to earn their awards, sell cookies and learn about camping. He had honed his camping skills as a young man when had been a volunteer at the Y.M.C.A. in downtown Boston. He had taken hikes with inner city children bringing them into the world of the forests that he loved so well. Bill was a prolific artist and writer. He has amassed over a thousand poems in his lifetime and hundreds of pieces of art that he created. His most recent art/poetry show was in December 2001 at the Northern Lights Bookshop and Caf?. He loved to read anything he could get his hands on, including the encyclopedia and the dictionary. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; his daughter and her husband, Jean and Kevin O'Neil of Kirby, Vt.; his daughter and her husband, Mary and Miguel Costa of East Providence, R.I.; his seven grandchildren, granddaughters Mia and Cara Metivier and grandson Sean Metivier, all of Kirby, Vt., and four grandsons, Christopher, Nicholas, Nathaniel and Alexander Costa of East Providence, R.I.; a sister, Helen Jane Torpey of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; a brother and his wife, Francis and Marcia Torpey of Rockville, Md.; and by nieces, nephews, many cousins and many friends. Funeral services for William John Torpey will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Holy Family Church on Union Street in Rockland, Mass. , 86, of Pollards Mills Road, Newport, passed away June 19, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born on Aug. 11, 1919, to Fred W. Smith and Flora B (Hosford) Smith in Newark, Vt. He attended Lyndon Graded School and Lyndon Institute in Vermont, then completed two years of business college at Bay Path Institute in Springfield, Mass. Harold went on to work for 19 years as a Certified Life Underwriter Insurance Agent for Prudential, retiring from them on July 5, 1979 to create his own real estate agency, H.M. Smith Realty Broker GRI, which he ran for 11 years before passing it on to his son, Fred Smith, on Dec. 31, 1990. He continued to work within his agency for the next seven years prior to taking full retirement to enjoy with his loving wife of 60 years, Ethel G. Atkinson, whom he married on Oct. 28, 1945. Harold served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Force from June 3, 1941 to Oct. 6, 1945. He was a staff sergeant stationed with the 56th Fighter Group Air Corps in the European Theater of Operations and received the following decorations and citations: Distinguished Unit Badge with Oak Leaf Cluster, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. He also was a charter member of the Lyndonville VFW and past member of the Masonic Lodge in Lyndonville, Vt. Harold is survived by his wife, Ethel G. (Atkinson) Smith of Newport, N.H.; one son, Fredric M. and his wife Christine Smith of Goshen, N.H.; two daughters, Kathryn M. Coons of League City, Texas, and Marcia J. and her husband Paul Robinson of Belmont, N.H.; one twin sister, Hazel M. O'Brien of Winter Haven Fla.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Coons of League City, Texas, Jodi Robinson of New London, N.H., Shannon Smith of Fairfax, Va., Richard Coons of Lyndonville, Vt., Michael Robinson of Goshen, N.H., and Steven Smith of Goshen, N.H.; and six great-grandchildren, Shayna Young, Jessica Coons, Amber Coons, Johnathon Coons, Christian Robinson, and Timothy Young. A former Peacham, Vt., resident, she moved to South Carolina to be with family about six months ago. She is predeceased by her husband, Edwin Steadman, and two sons, Gary and William Steadman. of Concord, passed away at home Tuesday, June 20, 2006. She was born in Lunenburg on Feb. 19, 1931, the daughter of Herbert Reginald and May Frances (Fuller) Silver. Tootie graduated from Littleton High School. She spent her adult years living in Concord, Vt., later moving with her husband to Texas in 1991. The Coakleys returned to Concord in September 2001 from Harlingen, Texas, where they lived for 10 years. There they managed The Lakewood RV Park for 31/2 years. She did mission work with the poor and hungry in Mexico. It is fair to say Tootie enjoyed lending a helping hand. In the Concord community she was active in the Cub Scouts, Concord High School alumni association, the historical society, and rarely missed a high school sports event. The "Ladies Day Out" group often came to her house for crafts; she was a skilled quilter and sewer and recently helped make neck warmers for the troops in Iraq. She was a member and treasurer of the Third Congregational Church of East St. Johnsbury. She had been employed at French and Bean, Sears Roebuck, and Citizens Savings Bank and Trust Co., where she was personnel director. She is survived by her husband, Harold of Concord (P.O. Box 328 05824); five sons, Robin Carpenter and his wife Niki of Portland, Maine (50 Wellstone Drive 04103), Randy Carpenter and his wife Nancy of St. Johnsbury (132 Sunset Drive 05819), Tracy Carpenter of Phoenix, Ariz. , 85, died June 21, 2006, in Island Pond. He was born in Mobile, Ala., on Aug. 29, 1920, the son of Gilbert and Susie (Ritter) Faustina. Father Faustina attended St. Michael's College in Colchester and Oxford University in England, and began studying for the priesthood at St. Augustine's Seminary in Bay St. Louis with the Divine Word Fathers, transferring to the Immaculate Seminary in Burlington in 1934. He was ordained to the priesthood on April 12, 1947, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Burlington, by Bishop Scully of Albany, N.Y. Father Faustina taught for two years at St. Edmund's Juniorate in Swanton and two years at Saint Michael's College in Colchester. He spent 34 years in pastoral service in the Diocese of Gallup, N.M., and the Diocese of Phoenix, Ariz., including pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Page, Ariz., from September 1965 to April 1959, pastor of St. Joseph's Parish in Williams, Ariz., from October 1970 to September 1980, and from November 1975 to March 1976 he was a founding father and also the administrator for El Cristo Rey Parish in Grand Canyon, Ariz. His assignments included: In 1964, dean of Winslow Deanery; 1965, appointed confessor to the Sisters in Page, Ariz.; and in 1973, appointed vicar of Flagstaff Vicariate for three years. On July 9, 1986, he was assigned as pastor at St. James, Island Pond, and St. Bernard, Norton. He retired after eight years of pastorate and remained in Island Pond until his death. The Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 26, 2006, at 11 a.m., in St. James Catholic Church in Island Pond. The wake will be at St. James Parish Hall in Island Pond on Saturday, June 24, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. The transfer of the body to the church will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2006, at 1 p.m., where he will lie in state until 6 p.m. The Most Rev. Salvotore R. Matano D.D., S.T.L., J.C.D., Bishop of Burlington, will be the principal celebrant, with his brothers in the priesthood concelebrating. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Island Pond. A reception will be held after the interment at the St. James Parish Hall. , 46, died unexpectedly at his home in Davie, Fla., on Saturday June 17, 2006. Born March 24, 1960, in Newport, Vt., a son of Roland "Midi" and Bethany Doyon, he lived in Island Pond, Vt., until 1978 when he moved to Florida. After moving to Florida he worked a family-run refrigeration business with his father and eventually took over the company several years ago. Peter is survived by his three children, Nicholas Doyon of Davie, Fla., Breanne Doyon of Loxahatchee, Fla., and Dominique Doyon of Plantation, Fla.; his father, Roland "Midi" Doyon of Sebring, Fla.; his mother, Bethany Doyon of Groveton; three brothers, John Doyon of Island Pond, Vt., Thomas and his wife Peggy Doyon of Groveton, N.H., and Daniel Doyon of Sebring, Fla.; along with several nieces. Funeral services will be held in Davie, Fla., on Saturday, June 24, at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home. , 86, Newbury, Vt., died June 21, 2006, at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N.H.. She was born in Plainfield, N.J., Aug. 31, 1919, the daughter of John Francis and Leah Ruth (Rogers) Goodwin. Petie was a secretary at Jones and Lamson in Springfield and also served as the executive secretary for the American Red Cross in Springfield. She and her husband, Robert W. Hitchcock, enjoyed participating in square dances around the state. She was a member of the Springfield Methodist Church and the Knitting Club. They moved to Tarpon Springs, Fla., in 1979 after retirement and then Clearwater, Fla., returning to Vermont in 2002 following Robert's death. Petie enjoyed creative activities such as sewing and water color painting and enjoyed taking art classes. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Hitchcock, on April 27, 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Nelson and her husband Fremont of Ryegate Corner, Vt.; a son, Rob Hitchcock and his wife Marie of Kelsey, Calif.; three grandsons, Darcy Nelson and his wife Jenny and sons D.J. and Avery and daughter Aleah, Matthew Nelson and his wife Gina and sons Hunter and Cole, and Ethan Nelson and his wife Erin; and cousins. , age 79, a Lyndonville resident, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the Union House Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. The daughter of Homer C. and Fanny (Church) Shattuck, she was born Dec. 29, 1926, in St. Johnsbury. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 1945, and married Malcolm Wallace Aiken on May 20, 1977. She was a member of South Congregational Church, Green Mountain Grange #1, and former member of the Danville Women's Club. She was a great crocheter and knitter and cook. Frances especially enjoyed taking rides in the car with her husband. Frances is survived by her husband, Malcolm of Lyndonville; two daughters, Linda Chase and her companion Larry MacDougall of Lyndonville and Becky Hedges and her companion Red of Morgan; seven grandchildren, William Currier of Charlotte, N.C., Darlene Haugwitz and her husband Patrick of Newport; Sheryl Darrington and her husband Allen of Bethlehem, N.H., Brenda Miller and her husband Dean of Gilman; a special granddaughter, Carol Jewett and her husband Arlene of Bethlehem, N.H., who took care of her for three and a half years; Barbara Chase and her companion Charlie Ridgway of Sheffield; Aaron Hedges of Morgan; and 12 great-grandchildren. , 70, of Powder Hill Drive, Lancaster, N.H., died at her home Friday morning, June 23, 2006. Beatrice was born in Lancaster on Jan. 2, 1936, the daughter of Frank H. and Jean M. (Willson) Downing. Bea spent most of her life in Lunenburg. She worked as a teacher's aid at the Lunenburg Elementary, and as a Home Health Aid for Weeks Home Health, Lancaster. She has resided in Lancaster for the past 10 years. She enjoyed reading, loved her cat "Tigger," and spending time with her family and friends. Family members include her children, Deborah Thomas and her husband Edson of Lunenburg, Joan Lyon and her husband Roy of East Concord, Vt., Crystal Lewis of Lancaster, Terry Mark Lewis of Bethlehem, and Karen Lewis of Lunenburg; two brothers; Malcolm F. Downing and Gary P. Downing, both of Lunenburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Lewis; and a great-grandson, Brayden Tolf. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 26, at 4 p.m. at the Lunenburg Methodist Church. The Rev. Henry E. Cheney, pastor, will officiate. , 79, died June 22, 2006, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Haverhill, N.H., July 3, 1926, the daughter of Oscar and Gladys (DeMerritt) Stone. She graduated from Haverhill Academy. Lillian worked for 11 years before retiring at The Green Thumb in Center Haverhill, where she loved working with flowers and interacting with the public. She was a member of the VFW Post 5245 Auxiliary of North Haverhill. Lillian loved her flower gardens and gardening in them. She also enjoyed birds, being out in nature and being with her family. She has been affectionately known as "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence "Joe" Kimball on April 17, 1983, and also a sister, Isabelle. Survivors include two daughters, Geraline Dube of Haverhill and Lee Ann Sellingham of North Woodstock, N.H.; two sisters, Bessie Colbeth of Newbury, Vt., and Rose McIntyre of Manchester, N.H.; two brothers, Fred Stone of Granby, Mass., and Frank Stone of Barnet, Vt.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. was a longtime resident of the St. Johnsbury House in St. Johnsbury. He passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006, at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center at the age of 88. He was born in St. Johnsbury on Oct. 25, 1917, and was the son of Merrill and Elizabeth (Placey) Johnson. He had a sister, Pearl Plamondon. Carl's companion was Marie St. Pierre of St. Johnsbury; they were together for 25 years. Carl had missed her greatly since she passed away Aug. 19, 2000. Marie's granddaughter Shirl Sizen was his power of attorney and watched out for his affairs. He is also survived by Marie's son, Robert Lawrence of East Burke, and her daughter, Jeanette Shier of Romeo, Mich.; and Shirl's son, David Lee White. , 56, of Railroad Street, St. Johnsbury, passed away Wednesday, June 21. Stanley was born in Valley Stream, Long Island, N.Y., the son of Edward Trelewicz and Catherine Bader. He attended school in Bellows Falls, Vt., and graduated in 1967. He joined the Marines and served in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart in 1968. Stanley worked at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital, was a private photographer and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in White River Junction, Vt. He did volunteer work for the Veterans Administration and raised and donated vegetables to many groups. Stanley was a member of the American Legion, Bellows Falls Fire Department and the Westminster Volunteer Fire Department. Stanley is survived by his sister, Carol Fullam of Grafton, Vt.; one niece and one nephew; grand-nieces and -nephews; aunts and uncles. Alan was born in Neptune, N.J., on July 11, 1931, and lived in Wanamassa, N.J. He moved to Twin Mountain with his family in 1972. Alan served in the Army during the Korean War in 1952-1955. He also served as an exempt fireman in Oakhurst, N.J. He worked for 10 years at the Asbury Park Press in Asbury, N.J. He then went on to be an amusement park entrepreneur at the Long Branch Pier, N.J. In 1973, he started Fun Towne in Twin Mountain, N.H. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid fisherman in New Hampshire, Florida and Maine. Alan Francis was always an active volunteer in his community. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice M. Francis. His family includes his son, Michael Rawson, three daughters, Vanessa, Valerie and Veronica; five grandchildren, Jesse, Monica, Michael, Perry and Justine; two brothers, Mervin J. Francis of Oakhurst, N.J. and Leon W. Francis of Tiverton, R.I., and several nieces and nephews. , 59, Groveton, N.H., died peacefully at her home with her family at her bedside Tuesday morning, June 27, 2006, after a long battle with lung disease. Mrs. Hutchinson was born in Lancaster on Oct. 21, 1946, the daughter of Alvin "Ike" Thompson and Norma (Lund) Thompson. Evelyn resided most of her lifetime in the North Country, including Lancaster, Whitefield, and for the past 25 years, in Groveton. She was employed off and on at shoe and other factories. However, she was very talented in interior design, cake decorating and woodworking. Her other hobbies included gardening, going to yard sales, and arts and crafts. Most of her life was spent giving to others in any way that she could. She dedicated herself to her husband and only daughter, and later, to her two beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hutchinson; one daughter, Samantha Laundry and her companion Jeffrey McMann; two grandchildren, Kailene and Evan Laundry, all of Groveton; three sisters, Patricia Dupont of Concord, N.H., Carol Coolbeth and her husband William of East Lempster, N.H., Amber Thompson of Groveton; one brother, Calvin Thompson and his wife Cheryl of Dalton; one aunt, several nieces and nephews, many cousins. She was predeceased by both her parents, as well as her stepparents, Dick and Dorothy Mayberry. He enjoyed cooking, classical music and art. Joe was a very warm, caring and gentle person. He is survived by his father Robert A. Fortunati and his wife Susan of Corinth, Vt.; his mother Mary F. Lincoln of Winchester, Mass.; three brothers, Robert J. , of St. Johnsbury, passed away Wednesday evening, June 28, 2006, at the age of 76. Born in Richford, Vt., on Dec. 28, 1929, she grew up and attended school in Newport. She married B.J. Murphy in November of 1950. From that day forward, she has been a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and B.J. raised three sons, and loved and supported them in their many activities. Her pride and joy were her five grandchildren and one great-grandson. The years were filled with holiday turkey dinners at "Nina's," as her grandchildren named her, and Nina's kitchen was always open. For years Terry and B.J. enjoyed going to Palm Springs, Calif., in April, often bringing other family members with them. She loved crossword puzzles, reading, golf as a member of the St. Johnsbury Country Club, and for several years was a record holder at Gold Crown Lanes. Terry enjoyed life, but her biggest joy of all was loving and caring for her family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Bernard J. "B.J." Murphy of St. Johnsbury (151 Hastings St. 05819); three sons: Stephen Murphy and his partner Donna, Michael Murphy, Peter Murphy and his wife Julie, all of St. Johnsbury; five grandchildren: Danielle, Shane, Trevor, Ryan and Cooper; and a great-grandchild: Danielle's son Cameron. She was predeceased by her first son, James P. Murphy; and by two brothers, John and Floyd Viens. Elisabeth de Hongrie), a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, passed away after a long illness on June 29, 2006, at the Mount Sacred Heart Provincial House Infirmary, Littleton, N.H. Olivette Chalifoux was born Aug. 3, 1909, in Ste. Hyacinthe, Qu?bec. She was the youngest daughter of Pierre Thomas Chalifoux and Gracia Prince. Olivette Chalifoux professed her vows with her religious congregation on July 22, 1952. During her 54 years of religious profession Sister Olivette served in various missions in Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa, Newport, Vt.; Champlain, N.Y.; Colebrook and Littleton, N.H. During World War II, Olivette joined the Canadian Army Women's Volunteer Reserve Corps and did some recruiting. Later on during the war, she also worked within a Montreal explosives factory, translating for the chemist. Besides taking care of her sick mother, she eventually did many tasks that outside of wartime had been done mostly by men, such as harvesting apples and training in carpentry. This later skill served her well later on in life especially in her mission work. Sister Olivette was a dedicated health care professional, having helped establish a network of medical dispensaries in the former Basutoland, which became Lesotho in 1966, traveling mostly on horseback to each of these remote missions. She was a very competent nurse and midwife, having resolved to answer God's call to dedicate her life to alleviating suffering and comforting the sick, especially the poorest among them. In her later years, she served the needs of the sick both within her religious community, in private duty, and at the Littleton Hospital. Sister Olivette Chalifoux was predeceased by her parents, three sisters - Fabienne, Simone, and Marcelle, several dear relatives and friends. She is survived by her sisters in the religious community and her beloved nieces and nephews. Pamela was currently a mill worker at Wausau Paper Mill in Groveton, N.H. She was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and took great pride in Native American values and cultures. Pamela is survived by her sons, Shawn LaRue of Chicopee, Mass., and Michael Edwards of New Hampshire; her sister, Glenda LaRue of Chicopee, Mass.; her lifelong friends, Bruce Rolfe of Island Pond, Donna Vickery, and Debbie Bartula and other dear friends; and several nieces and nephews. , a longtime resident of Lyman and Lisbon, N.H., died at the age of 94 in Littleton Regional Hospital on Feb. 18, 2006. Born Phyllis Sherwood Hay in New York City on Dec. 7, 1911, she passed her early childhood in that city and briefly in Paris, France. She attended public schools in New York and became a legal secretary. In 1945, she and a friend joined a program run by the Women's Land Army and traveled to Cooperstown, N.Y., to harvest vegetables. She remained in Cooperstown, where she met Harold P. Basinger, whom she married in 1950. They built a house in Cooperstown, but Mr. Basinger died five years later. Mrs. McCloskey subsequently met Harry Boyd McCloskey, a graduate of and faculty member at Cooper Union in New York City. They married on July 7, 1956. She continued to work as a legal secretary and as the secretary for the editor of The Weekly Underwriter trade journal. In 1973, the couple moved to Exeter, N.H. They later moved to Mountain Meadows in Lyman in 1976, where they resided until Mr. McCloskey's death in 1996. Both became active members of the Church of the Epiphany in Lisbon, and Mrs. McCloskey remained actively involved in that church as treasurer, lay reader and delegate to the Diocesan Convention until her death. Mrs. McCloskey was a member of Lisbon's Friends in Council, and before Mr. McCloskey's death, the two of them were active supporters of the Newmarket Militia and attended occasional local events presented by the Society for Creative Anachronisms. Mrs. McCloskey had no children. Her generous, outgoing personality and independent spirit, as demonstrated by her continuing to drive into her 93rd year, helped her to forge numerous close friendships in the greater Lisbon area, and to maintain her friendships in southern New Hampshire. While she leaves no children or grandchildren, her circle of warm, close friendships gave her a large family indeed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, at 11 a.m., at Church of the Epiphany in Lisbon. Mrs. Shover graduated from Lake Region Union High School in 1975 and worked in several occupations. She had been a member and held positions in the following organizations: Interval Chapter, No. 61, Orleans Eastern Star, Girl Scout leader and head chair, NVDA (Northern Vermont Development Agency). She was a representative, on the Planning Commission and an auditor for many years to the town of Brownington. She was also a firefighter and safety officer for the Westmore Fire Department, and a member of the Barton Ambulance Squad. Her hobbies included fishing and hunting, handiwork, gardening, cooking, freezing and canning, writing books, fish rod repair and custom building of fishing rods, wood working and carvings, glass etching and carvings, taxidermy, herbalogy and Native American understandings. , 84, formerly of Island Pond, passed away in Burlington on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006. She was born on Nov. 16, 1921, in Island Pond, the daughter of Emile and Rosalyn (Dupuis) Goulet. On May 28, 1940, she married Donald Moffett, who predeceased her, as well as her daughter Diane and her sister Simone Thomas. Jeannine was a member of the Island Pond American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting scarves, which gave her much joy to give to friends and strangers. She also enjoyed playing cards with her daughters. Jeannine is survived by her daughters, Donna Gould of Colebrook, N.H., Sandra Lawliss and her husband Donald of South Burlington, Faye Hopcroft and her husband Robert of Brick, N.J., Deborah LeBlanc, and Cindy Koehler of Williston, with whom she resided the last few years. She is also survived by her sisters, Greta Locke of Center Conway, Anita Gilbert of Jay, Maine, and Shirley Goulet of Merritt Island, Fla.; her dear brother, Maurice Goulet and his wife Tina of St. Albans; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her most loyal friend, "Zoe"; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jim and Betty Hinton, whose care and concern allowed her to spend those extra years in her home, and Marcia, who mom had a great love for and always called her her other daughter. Jeannine was cremated. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Island Pond at a later date with burial following at the Lakeside cemetery in Island Pond. , 59, of Underpass Road, Sutton, Vt., died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston. He was the husband of Karen (DuBois) Proulx. Born in Providence, a son of Ruth A. (Reed) Proulx of Merrimack, N.H. and Sarasota, Fla., and the late Robert B. "Pete" Proulx, he lived in North Kingstown, R.I. before moving to Sutton, Vt., 10 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. Mr. Proulx was a policeman for the North Kingstown Police Department for 18 years before retiring. Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his children, Donald R. Proulx Jr. and Ann Marie Proulx; a brother, James B. Proulx; a sister, Lorrie M. (Proulx) Frosheiser; and two grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John J. Proulx. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 7, at 10 a.m. in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, R.I. , 86, passed away Feb. 2, 2006, in Queensbury, N.Y., while residing at the Stanton Nursing Home. Dr. Warden was born Jan. 4, 1920, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., to Roy and Olga Warden and grew up in nearby West Barnet, Vt. Dr. Warden, nicknamed "Zan" by his parents and rural Vermont friends, "Bull" by private school friends and later "Alec" or "Doc," graduated from Mount Hermon School in 1938 and the University of Vermont in 1942. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he attended Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia where he earned a medical degree followed by his residency in Atlantic City, N.J. Alec was retained by the Hershey Chocolate Corporation in Hershey, Pa., as the resident physician in 1952 and 1953, followed by his moving to Littleton, N.H., with his wife, Irene, and three sons where he was in family practice from 1953 until 1988. Alec was a Mason, an active member of the Elks and sat on the board of directors of the Peoples National Bank in Littleton. He enjoyed golf, bridge, pool, playing the organ, fishing and gardening. Aside from shooting par at the Bethlehem Country Club a couple times, one of his special moments as a golfer was teeing his way to second place in the North Country golf tournament in 1965. Alec very much enjoyed his life as a doctor and showed early interest in medicine as a boy in West Barnet, where he helped injured animals. He established a friendship with his patients who liked him very much and he was often seen out on the back roads of Littleton in his Volkswagen Beetle making house calls, a common practice among some doctors of a bit simpler time when a personal visit mattered more. At his office on Union Street or in the corridors of the Littleton Hospital, one would often hear that distinctive, loud, hearty laugh coming from Doc Warden as he cracked a joke with the staff or pulled a patient out of a foul mood. One day at his office, after an older lady friend had described her concern, Dr. Warden looked at her, grinned and said, "You know - what you need is more sex." She then paused and said, "Well, Doc, I think you're right!" Taking such humorous liberties with family, friends and patients alike was part of his manner. Alec is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene M. Warden, who resides at 16 Bullard Ave. in Queensbury, NY 12804; a brother Stoddard Warden of West Barnet, Vt.; and by three sons, Alex Warden of Queensbury, N.Y., Bob Warden of Littleton, N.H., and Greg Warden of Los Angeles, Calif.; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

, 83, a resident of Weston for many years, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center in Ridgefield, Conn. She was born in Ansonia, Conn., on Oct. 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Matthew and Cassie (Kobeckis) Yankus. She attended grammar and high school in Ansonia, and then went on to study nursing at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, Conn., and also New York University. She worked as a registered nurse in the hospital setting, as well as public health and private duty nursing. Her professionalism, dedication, compassion and expertise was outstanding. Everyone will remember her gentle touch and kind smile. The family wishes to thank the staff at Laurel Ridge for the kindness and care that was given. After her nursing career, despite many health setbacks, she continued to be a valuable member in the community devoting many hours as a hospital and church volunteer. Mrs. Marlin is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alfred D. "Cappy" Marlin; her four daughters, Elaine Nuzzo and her husband James of Farmington, Maine, twins Elizabeth Piper and her husband Wayne of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Nanci Nero and her husband Peter of Franklin, N.Y., and Margaret Marlin of Redding, Conn.; six grandchildren, Nathan, Kazmeira, Gregory, Sarah, Holly and Adam; one sister, Alice Stinebaugh of Lewisville, Texas; her nephew, Michael Raino and his companion Ellie Canary of East Chatham, N.Y.; as well as many other nephews, nieces and cousins. Mrs. Marlin was predeceased by her two sisters, Sophie Yankus and Emma Bernard. , 60, of Whitefield, N.H., passed away suddenly at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster on Wednesday, March 1, 2006. Jim was born Dec. 20, 1945, a son to James W. and Beverly (Hazard) Clothey, in St. Johnsbury, Vt. He grew up in South Burlington, Vt., graduating from South Burlington High School in 1964. Jim graduated from the Cambridge School of Broadcasting in Boston, Mass., in 1966. Jim's career as a broadcaster encompassed areas of auto racing and motocross, radio stations and some television announcing. At a young age, Jim worked alongside Ken Squire, announcing at racetracks including Thunder Road, Catamount and Airborne Speedway. He began broadcasting on radio at WDOT, then a popular radio station in Burlington. He also worked at WSKI radio in Montpelier, Vt. Jim was well-known as the race announcer at Riverside Speedway in Groveton a number of years ago, and around that time was the news director, and programming director of station WLGW in Lancaster, NH. Jim began at WLTN in 1991 as a news director, where he was well respected and listened to by thousands over the years. Jim left WLTN briefly in 1999 to join his wife, Terri, in a family retail business, A Different Path, on Littleton's Main Street. He returned to WLTN in July 2002 at the request of Barry Lunderville, where he had become a treasured part of the "Morning Mix." Jim enjoyed the outdoors as a hunter and marksman and, of course, his long love for auto racing. He was highly devoted to his job, and was one of the North Country's finest broadcasters. Jim leaves his wife of 32 years, Theresa "Terri" Clothey of Whitefield; one sister, Jayne and her husband Jerry Williams of Tempi, Ariz.; a daughter, Pam; a grandson, Jackson Comeau; and many cousins. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Friday, March 10, 2006, at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge 1831 on Route 302 in Littleton, N.H. , 64, of York Street, Sanford, Maine, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a brief illness. She was born in Newport, Vt., a daughter of Rodney Omer and Shirley Maude (Wade) Davis and was raised and educated in Island Pond, Vt., before moving to Arundel, Maine, and graduating from Kennebunk High School. For over 30 years Barb worked in the health-care field, providing care and assistance to many in their own homes. She retired from Community Partners in Biddeford. Barbara married Fay Stephen Farrington in November 1959 and together they began their family. Barbara enjoyed oil painting, often painting landscapes. She was talented with handcrafts and crocheting. She loved eating lobster, and strawberries were a favorite. A caregiver by nature, she was devoted to her family and grandchildren. For many years, she was an active member of the Bible Speaks in South Berwick, Maine, and shared her faith by example in her everyday living. Survivors include her mother, Shirley Davis of Arundel; three daughters, Cheryl and her husband Daniel Delisle of Shapleigh, Maine, Wendy Nemet of Sanford, and Brenda Farrington of Arundel; one son, Steven Farrington of Sanford; three sisters, Carol Thurston of Arundel, Mary Nelson of Waterboro and Valerie Brown of Hollis; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Rodney Davis, Feb. 12, 1995; and by her husband, Howard Colpitts, Jan. 18, 1993. , 86, of Woodsville, N.H., died at his home on March 4, 2006. Mr. Millette was born in Haverhill, N.H., on Oct. 8, 1919, the son of Francis and Mary (LaFrance) Millette. Mr. Millette served in the U.S. Army in Cannon Company of the 17th Infantry until his honorable discharge in October 1945. He worked as a truck driver for several years for Cray Oil and then for Gary's Fuel of North Haverhill, N.H., for whom he drove into his early 70s. He was a member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post 20, Woodsville, and is a former member and assistant fire chief of the Woodsville Fire Department. Mr. Millette was predeceased by his wife, Lucille (Camp) Millette, on June 1, 1988. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Mary Millette, in July 2004; a grandson, Joshua Thornton, in January 1998; a brother, Wendell Millette; and two sisters, Marjorie Keenan and Dorothy Bouchard. He is survived by his two sons, Dale Thornton of North Haverhill, N.H., and Rupert Millette of Bennington, Vt.; along with a brother, Elwin Millette of Tilton, N.H.; and nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. , U.S. Army Ret., 76, of Bethlehem, N.H., died March 4, 2006, at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth, N.H. Born in Southern Pines, N.C., on March 31, 1929, Bob was the son of James Elmer Harrington and Berenice (Morrill) Harrington, and the brother of James Elmer Harrington Jr. He was married to Elizabeth (Jaques) Harrington and had four children, Robert Harrington Jr. (deceased), Major George Harrington, Susan Sullivan and Katherine Segal, and seven grandchildren, Tim and Jon Harrington, Sam Harrington, Mike, Megan and Marissa Sullivan, and Robert Segal. Bob "Rebel" Harrington graduated from Southern Pines High School and from the University of New Hampshire in 1953 where he was a member of ROTC and the only UNH football team that had an undefeated season. He was a veteran of the North Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. His honors include Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Armed Forces Honor Medal and First Class Parachute Badge. After his retirement, he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the town of Bethlehem. He served on both the Bethlehem and Profile School Boards for over seven years. He enjoyed hunting, golf and skiing. He also volunteered for many years at the Broward County Lighthouse in Florida. , 82, of Whitney Place, Westboro, Mass., died peacefully, Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in the hospital after a brief illness. Len was born on Oct. 14, 1923, in Lyndon Center, Vt., as the oldest son of eight children. He graduated from Lyndon Institute, Class of 1941. Len then went on to attend Norwich University where his course of study was interrupted by World War II. He graduated with a bachelor's degree after serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1942 to 1946. He then went on to M.I.T. to receive a master's degree in electrical engineering. Len spent the next 40 years with Raytheon Corporation in Bedford, Mass., in their Missile Systems Division, receiving numerous awards. He retired from there in 1988. He and his wife Connie made their home in Lexington, Mass., from 1952 until 1969, where Len was quite involved in the Elk's Club and held the office of Exalted Ruler in the mid-1960s. Len and Connie returned to live in their hometown of Lyndonville in the mid-1990s, after many years living in Massachusetts and Connecticut. In May 2003, they moved back to Massachusetts into an assisted living environment close to some of their children. Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor "Connie" (Batchelder) Hopkins of Westboro, Mass.; and his four children, Richard L. Hopkins of Holland, Mass., Douglas B. Hopkins of Westmore, Vt., Deborah L. Vorce of New Castle, N.H., and Suzanne H. McDonough of Framingham, Mass. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers. A memorial service to celebrate Len's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, at The Willows, One Lyman Street, Westboro, Mass. She was born in St. Johnsbury on Aug. 31, 1904, and was the daughter of George and Anna (Cormier) Gagner. Her husband, Laurent J. Gagner, passed away Dec. 2, 1968. She retired from The Citizens Savings Bank and Trust Co., had previously worked at Fairbanks, and was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church. She is survived by nieces and nephews. , 84, of Irasburg, passed away in Barton on Friday, March 10, 2006. He was born in North Troy on April 30, 1921, the son of Clement and Melina (Piorier) Royer. On July 22, 1940, he married the former Bernadette Provoncher, who predeceased him on Dec. 7, 2005. Philip and Bernadette bought the family farm in Irasburg in the 1940s and ran it for many years, with their sons now running it. They also ran barn dances in the early to mid-1970s, with many local bands playing there. They also did a lot of traveling around the country, visiting several states to attend Farm Bureau conventions. Philip was also a Massey Fergerson dealer as well as a SkiDoo dealer. He was a member of the Orleans Fish & Game Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and bowling. Philip is survived by his children, Philip Royer and his wife Doris of Irasburg, Richard Royer and his wife Valorie of Irasburg, Patricia Poutre and her husband Alfred of Irasburg, and Denis Royer and his wife Lori of Irasburg; his brothers, Ernest Royer of Newport Center, Emile Royer of Irasburg, Raymond Royer of Irasburg, and Andrew Royer of Derby; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. , of St. Johnsbury, passed away suddenly Friday, March 10, 2006, at the age of 76. One of 12 children, he was born in Bartlett, N.H., on May 26, 1929, the son of Earle and Alfreda (McNab) Whitcher. He attended Bartlett schools. Dave worked for the railroad for 38 years: at Maine Central, St. J. & L.C., and Canadian Pacific railroads. He was a good family man and was always an outdoorsman at heart, spending some of his best times hunting and fishing with close friends. He served stateside in the Army during the Korean conflict. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Locke) Whitcher (1294 Concord Ave., 05819); four sons, Walter Whitcher and his wife Laura of Houston, Texas, Warren Whitcher of Derry, N.H., David Whitcher Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Donald Whitcher of St. Johnsbury; three grandchildren, Nicholas of Houston, Texas, Brandon of Barnet, and Macie of Houston, Texas; one sister, Madeline Balogh; brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. , 60, of Elm Street, Lancaster, N.H., died Wednesday, March 9, 2006, at the B.D. Weeks Memorial Hospital after a year-long battle with lung cancer. He was born Jan. 8, 1946, in West Stewartstown, N.H., the son of Edgar and Beverly. He grew up in Colebrook and Groveton, graduating from Groveton High in 1965. Soon after school he joined the Army, then worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator and long-distance truck driver. Most recently he worked as an electrician for IBEW local 104. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Club and Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlyn Stoddard, who was by his side from the beginning of his illness to the end; three sons, Tory and Josh of North Conway, N.H., and Travis of Lancaster; a sister, April of Boscawen, N.H.; his very close friends, Frank and MerryJane Savage of Lancaster, who made the daily and weekly trips to Lebanon for treatments; aunts, uncles and cousins; and a broad network of wonderful and caring friends he considered as his family. He was predeceased by his mother, Beverly J. (Fissette) Swift; his father, Edgar I. Stoddard Sr.; and his stepfather, Chandler A. Swift. Snooky enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family, and not to be left out, a good card game or an occasional trip to a casino. He will be remembered for his trademark cowboy hat, smirky smile and willingness to help anyone in need. There will be no calling hours. , 100, of Marion, Mass., died March 8, 2006, in Marion where she had resided for the past 27 years. Born in 1905 in Cumberland, R.I., she was the daughter of Clara (Walmsley) and Charles Arnold Ray. Following graduation from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1928, she taught art and second grade at the Massachusetts State School in Wrentham. In 1931, she married Frank Haworth Pickles, and they had two children. Mrs. Pickles was active in the Women's Auxiliary at St. John's Episcopal Church in Cumberland and later in the Penetralia Guild of the Lime Rock Baptist Church in Lincoln, R.I., where she resided for 38 years. She and her two children spent their summers on her father's dairy farm in West Halifax, Vt. A naturalist, artist and independent thinker all her life, Mrs. Pickles inspired her children, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. , 91, of St. Johnsbury, Vt., formerly of Enfield, Conn., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. She was the widow of the late Walter B. Miles, who also passed on March 14, 1984. She was born in Old Town, Maine, on March 8, 1915. Susan had a true, deep love for her family and will be greatly missed. She leaves a son, Reginald B. Miles and his wife Laurie of Amston, Conn.; a daughter, Linda Kline and her husband Steve, with whom she resided; a daughter-in-law, Connie Miles who was very special to her; six grandchildren: Kelly Prevost, Carrie DelConte and her husband Mike, Lance Miles, Kevin Miles and his fianc?e Cherie, Kathy Hall and her husband Russell, Tammy Chaplin and her husband Joe; and two step-grandchildren, Sue and Jen Kline. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Brittany Richardson and DJ Prevost, of St. Johnsbury; Leah and Samantha DelConte, R.J., Adam and Ryan Hall, Lauren Miles, and Jake and Justin Chaplin, all of Enfield, Conn.; and Tyler Miles, of Somers, Conn. The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to Susan's daughter Linda, whom has cared for her with endless patience, love and compassion up until her passing. , 74, of Morrisville, died peacefully Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at his home with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Elmore, the son of Reuben and Martha Weinman Draper. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. LeRoy married Jeannine Benware in 1956 in Lowell. LeRoy began farming in Morrisville when he was married. He later sold the farm and started his own painting business which he operated for nearly 30 years and was joined in the business by his grandson, Corey. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jeannine Benware Draper; a daughter, Lisa Draper and her partner, Charles Coddington, of St. Johnsbury; a son, Scott A. Draper and special friend, Anathea Maniatty of Stowe; a special grandson, Corey A. Draper of Morrisville; four sisters, Margaret Andrews of Winooski; Minnie Gould of Elmore; Dorothy Jones of Hyde Park and Reubena Worthington of Port St. Lucia, Fla.; one brother, Frederick "Shag" Draper and his wife, Priscilla "Pat" of Morrisville; two grandsons, David C. Draper and partner Dawn, and James L. Patten and his partner Margo, all of Hardwick; great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Doris Draper of Elmore and Florence Draper of Hyde Park; and several nieces and nephews. LeRoy also leaves his companion, his favorite dog, Rottie Aztec. LeRoy was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Gustave "John", Delbert, Max, Robert, and Reuben Draper. , 69, of Montgomery, Texas, formerly of Wilder, Vt. and East Concord, Vt., died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in Conroe, Texas. She was born Sept. 6, 1936, in East Concord, Vt., a daughter of Arthur and Rebecca Mae (Timson) Davis. She attended elementary school in East Concord and Concord High School in Concord, Vt. She was married to Robert Morse Feb. 25, 1956, and they moved to White River Jct., Vt., in 1968 where they lived briefly before moving to Wilder where they lived for many years. She worked at Profile Skiwear in West Lebanon, N.H., for a time and then in the housekeeping department at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, N.H., before retiring in 1992. Mr. Morse died in 2000. She later met Isaac Mims whose company made her happier than she had ever known. They moved to Montgomery, Texas, Feb. 2 of this year. She enjoyed all of the simple pleasures of life, but her No. 1 priority was her family and her little dog, "Angel." She also loved her online friends, traveling, fishing and swimming. She was predeceased her husband, her father and a brother, Eugene Davis. She is survived by her mother, Rebecca (Timson) Davis of Lyndonville, Vt.; three daughters Deborah Phillips of Odell, Ore., Paula Holobowicz of Montgomery, Texas, and Ramona Picknell of Orange, N.H.; two sons, Arthur "Sonny" Morse of Enfield, N.H., and Dwayne Morse of Hartford, Vt.; a sister, Vivian Fox of Lyndonville, Vt.; a sister-in-law, Sheila Davis of Lyndonville, Vt.; her boyfriend, Isaac Mims of Montgomery, Texas; as well as 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pond was born in Lunenburg on June 13, 1937, the daughter of Clifford Clark and Eleanor Cora (Morse) Colby. Marilyn worked at home for Henschel Shoe Company of Littleton, for several years. She also worked for the Lancaster Bowling Alley, Stinehour Press, Lunenburg, Manchester Knitted Fashions, Whitefield, and for the Lancaster Home Health Agency. She loved cats, flower gardening, and needlepoint. Family members include her husband of 43 years, Clive A. Pond of Lunenburg; a daughter, Eleanor M. (Parks) Frechette of Lunenburg; two sons, Brian D. Parks of Dalton, and Gary R. Pond of Haverhill, Mass.; grandchildren, Adam Frechette of West Springfield, Mass., Sarah Frechette of Hartford, Vt., Katrina Parks and Nathan Parks both of Dalton; and a sister, Marcia E. , 60, of North Road, Guildhall, Vt., died Thursday evening, March 16, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a long illness with diabetes. Mrs. Nelson was born in Morristown, N.J., on April 13, 1945, the daughter of Herbert and Annabelle (Tunnis) Neidel. Kathy was raised in New Jersey and was a 1963 graduate of Morristown High School. In 1967 she married Nels P. Nelson III of Basking Ridge, N.J., and they moved to Guildhall in 1971. There they raised their family and operated a farm, raising quarter horses and cattle. She also assisted her husband in the operation of his business. Mrs. Nelson was longtime equestrian who rode show horses in amateur and professional circuits. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, spending time with people and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she assisted with many of the church's activities. Family members include her husband Nels; two sons, Nels Philip Nelson IV and his wife Karen of Guildhall, Vt., and Christopher E. Nelson and his wife Tracey of Jefferson; and grandchildren, Eric, Jacob, Katelyn, Megan, Kyle and Kegan. At Kathy's request there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday morning, March 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Church, Lancaster. The Rev. David Rose, pastor, will officiate. , age 77, of 155 Pearl St., St. Johnsbury, Vt., passed away Thursday afternoon, March 16, 2006, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in St. Johnsbury, daughter of the late Austin E. and Gertrudge M. (Coolbeth) Longmore. She married Edward J. Prue; he predeceased her Aug. 31, 1998. Barbara worked for the Merchants Bank, 34 years. Barbara was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. Barbara is survived by her son, Richard E. Prue and his wife, Pamela J. , 29, of Sutton, died suddenly Saturday afternoon, March 18, 2006, as a result of an automobile accident in Sutton. He was born Nov. 28, 1976, in Woodsville, N.H., the only son of Michael D. and Judith A. (Spencer) Smith. Shawn worked for the last eight years as a bulldozer operator for J.A. McDonald Inc. Prior to that he worked for Stan Weed, dairy farming and construction for several years. An outdoorsman at heart, Shawn enjoyed hunting, skiing and snowmobiling. He was an avid motorcyclist, riding dirt bikes and street bikes. Survivors include his parents, Michael and Judith Smith of Sutton, (P.O. , of Whitefield, N.H., died Friday, March 17, 2006, at his home after a long illness. John was born May 6, 1953, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in Centereach, N.Y., on Long Island. In 1974 he married his high school sweetheart, Wendy J. Stevens, of Setauket, N.Y., to whom he was married for 32 years. In 1976 he graduated with a B.A. from Oswego College. The following year he and Wendy moved to Whitefield, where he had been offered a job teaching industrial arts at the C.D. McIntyre School. John moved over to the newly formed Profile School two years later. In 1986 John was named N.H. teacher of the year, and in 1990 he received his master's degree in education from Antioch New England. His teaching career spanned 29 years. He was very proud of the Profile School and to be a part of its staff and was loved by students and teachers alike. John was an active member of the Whitefield Lions Club, an avid supporter of the Weathervane Theatre, past president of Profile teacher's union and played a major role in the revitalization of Weeks State Park on Mt. Prospect. But most importantly he was the loving husband of Wendy, and the father of two beloved children, Erica and Justin. His family meant everything to him. John is survived by his wife, Wendy Joseffy; two children, Erica and Justin Joseffy; his father, John G. Joseffy; two sisters, Patricia Minnitti and Nancy VanTine; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; many friends and students. He was predeceased by his mother, Rosemary, and sister, Carol Costello. Jane was born Oct. 16, 1935, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of George and Evelyn (Brooks) Wilkins. Jane was a 1953 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. On Oct. 1, 1955, she married Roger G. Donna at Notre Dame Church in St. Johnsbury. They celebrated 50 years of marriage with their family this past fall. Besides being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Jane was always very dedicated to her work, retiring from the state of Vermont 10 years ago. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was very strong in her faith. Her husband, Roger, sons Larry, Stephen and David, and her daughters Susan and Linda and her husband Tim Hartwell survive her. She also leaves her grandchildren Anne, Cami and Paul Donna and Timothy and Christopher Hartwell; her sisters, Priscilla Barrett and Beverly Robinson; her brother Stanley and his wife Mary Wilkins and sister-in-law Georgette Wilkins; and Roger's family Claude and Mary Jeanne Donna, Gemma and Gerard Chaloux, Gertrude and Robert Turner, Dorothy and Reg Leonard, Robert and Sara Donna and Normand and Susan Donna. She attended public schools in Passumpsic and St. Johnsbury, graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1939. Arlene was extremely proud of being elected permanent class secretary. She later attended Larson Junior College (Quinnipiac) in Hamden, Conn. Over the years, Arlene worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Witters, Longmore and Akley as well as attorney John Swainbank. Arlene had also worked in real estate with Leslie Scott in St. Johnsbury. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years; included in her many interests were photography, fashion design and a love of horses. Survivors include her brother Neal M. Ayer and his wife Marguerite Collins Ayer of St. Johnsbury; nieces and nephews, Shawn M. Ayer and his wife Shannon and children Justin, Dylan and Caeley of Clinton, Conn., Jan M. Ayer and children Olivia and Michael of Jericho Center, Vt., Tyler N. of Bradford, Vt., died unexpectedly March 21, 2006, in Rumford, Maine. He was born on July 23, 1946, to Victor and Evelyn (Aldrich) Welch. He grew up in Waits River, Vt., and graduated from the Bradford Academy in 1964. Jerry joined the Army and served in Vietnam from April 1966 through March 1967. During his period of service, he participated in Operations Toledo, El Paso, Allteboro and Junction City, as well as other missions. Jerry married Linda (Clark) Welch on Dec. 16, 1967, in Bradford, Vt. Survivors include his wife, Linda Welch of Bradford; his daughter, Lisa Thompson and her husband Ricky and grandson Hunter of Topsham, his daughter, Sara Allen and her husband Josh and grandson Carter and granddaughter Hadlee of Bradford. Other survivors are his mother, Evelyn Welch; a brother, Donald Welch and his wife Florence of Wells River, Vt.; a sister, Linda Limlaw and her husband Murdo of Waits River, Vt.; a sister, Cheryl Eggleston and her husband Ernie of West Topsham, Vt.; along with many nieces and nephews. At the time of his death, Jerry was driving truck for Connecticut Valley Trucking of Orford, N.H. In prior years he also drove truck for Hayward Transportation of Fairlee, Vt., and Cabot Co-Operative Creamery of Bradford, Vt., and Cabot, Vt. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed fishing and camping with his grandsons. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Newport. He enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors. He really enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and the outdoors in general. He liked having friends stop by for a visit. , of Lyndonville, died Tuesday morning March 21, 2006, at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon, at the age of 85. She was born Dec. 5, 1920, in St. Johnsbury, daughter of the late Carroll J. and Eva B. (LaClair) Gordon. A graduate of Lyndon Institute's Class of 1939, she later graduated from the Brightlook Hospital School of Nursing in 1943, along with her sister Norma. Bev worked as a registered nurse for Brightlook Hospital in St. Johnsbury until it closed and moved to the new Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, also in St. Johnsbury, until her retirement in 1991, completing 50 years of nursing. She continued helping out at the hospital after her retirement as a volunteer. An Avid Red Sox and Celtics fan, she also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. In her later years she enjoyed attending the Riverside Life Enrichment Center in Lyndon. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Crocker and her husband Jim of East Ryegate; three grandchildren, Michael Crocker and his wife Kristina of Worcester, Vt., Todd Crocker and his wife Amy and their daughter Abigail of North Haverhill, N.H., and Jeffrey Crocker of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Carl "Joe" Gordon and his wife Betty of Sutton; a sister, Edna Mills of Lyndonville; her niece and her husband, Carol and Kevin Ruggles and family of Sutton; two nephews and their wives, Robert and Cindy Mills and family of Colebrook, N.H., and Gordon and Susan Mills and family of Lyndonville; and close family friends, Donna and Avery Rowell of East St. Johnsbury. Friends may call on the family at Sayles Funeral Home, Thursday from 5-7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, St. Johnsbury, with Father Patrick Forman officiating. , 78, of Melcher Street, Groveton N.H., died Thursday morning, March 23, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, N.H. Mrs. Stinson was born in Groveton, on Jan. 24, 1928, the daughter of James Henry and Sarah Anne (Emery) Cass. Mary was raised in Groveton and resided in Stratford for 46 years, originally at the Stinson Farm. In 1996 she returned to Groveton. Family members include four daughters, Linda Gilbert of Groveton, Peggy Goodale of Norwich, Conn., Nancy Lamoureux of Maidstone, Vt., and Mary Lou Stinson of Norwich, Conn.; two sons, Charles P. Stinson Jr. and James B. Stinson, both of Stratford Hollow; two sisters, Elizabeth Arsenault and Flora E. Auger both of Groveton; two brothers, Elmer Cass also of Groveton and Robert Cass of Concord, Vt.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles P. Stinson Sr., in 1980; and a son, Dennis P. Stinson. At Mary's request there will not be calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Center Cemetery, Stratford.
