DELMER R. BARROWS - LAKE EDEN- Delmer R. Barrows died peacefully Sunday, April 8, 2012, in Copley Hospital in Morrisville, with his wife, Linda, and son, Jeffrey, at his side. Del was born Nov. 29, 1930, the first child of Robert S. and Frances Pratt Barrows of Johnson. He attended public school in Johnson, studied at St. Johnsbury Academy and graduated from Johnson High School in 1949. He attended American University in Washington, D.C. and joined his father in the family business, Johnson Woolen Mills, Inc., in 1953. Del enjoyed a physically active lifestyle. He was an enthusiastic skier and took great pleasure in helping lots of area youngsters learn to ski. Del had been seriously affected by Parkinson's for over 10 years, subjected to ever increasing confinement at his Lake Eden home. Del is survived by his wife, Linda, and her three children and grandchildren from a previous marriage; his son, Jeffrey, and two grandchildren, Anthony and Desiree; daughter, Stacy B. Manosh; sister, Vicki Maitre, and her daughter, Monika Williams, of North Carolina; his former wife, Sally S. Barrows; and several cousins. Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at the United Church on Main Street in Johnson, with funeral services at the United Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Committal at Lamoille View Cemetery in Johnson, with Masonic service will immediately follow. Arrangements are by des Groseilliers Funeral Home on Main Street in Johnson. Memorial contributions, if one so desires, would enhance the work of the American Parkinson Disease Association, Vermont Chapter, 1 So. Prospect St., Burlington, VT 05401, or Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, VT 05661.
