Donat Gaston Menard, 86, of Rutland, died Jan. 2, 2011, at
Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born in St. Johnsbury, June 20, 1924, the son of Leo E.
and Beatrice (LaCroix) Menard.
He was a 1943 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy and a 1953
graduate of New York Upholstery Trade School.
Mr. Menard was a Korean War U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
In 1953, he opened Rutland Upholstering.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and a
lifetime member of Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Mann) Menard; a daughter,
Monique Blackwood of Phoenixville, Pa.; and a granddaughter.
Mr. Menard was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Considine, in 1993.
The memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date, as well as
burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury.
