Prescott Wilber Stearns, Jr., died on Friday, July 27, 2012 at home. He would have been 88 years old on September 5th. Born in Keene, New Hampshire, he lived in Stanhope many years. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army. He was employed as an engineer with Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway Twp. for many years before retiring. He also owned Prescott, Inc. in Stanhope for many years. Dint as he was called by his family and friends was predeceased by his wife, Jane and his sister Martha Salmon. He is survived by Jane's brother Bill O'Neal and Martha's children, Rip, Bill, Deborah, Melissa and Roger as well as extended family members. During his most recent years Prescott or the Professor as he was called by his devoted caregiver Darlene Straway, enjoyed his home on Lake Musconetcong and his feline companion, Tom Cat, as well as a circle of caring friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1 at the Morgan Funeral Home, 31 Main St, Netcong (www.netcongfuneral.com). Interment to follow at Stanhope Union Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. only at the funeral home.
