Priscilla R. (Osgood) Ross, 86, of St. Johnsbury and formerly of Newport, died Friday afternoon
Sept. 6, 2013, at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 6, 1926, in St. Johnsbury the daughter of Rodney and Ruth (Noyes) Osgood.
Priscilla graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1944.
On Dec. 24, 1945, she married Walter Ross. They lived and raised their family in St. Johnsbury
where Priscilla worked as the head cook at Frank R. Adams School on Summer Street. She
later worked at The Caledonian-Record behind the counter for several years. She had also
been a Sunday school teacher at Grace United Methodist Church during the 1950s.
In the early 1970s Walter and Priscilla moved to Newport. She then began a 25-year career with
Newport Health Care/Nursing Home as the bookkeeper there.
Her hobbies included reading and knitting. She was an auxiliary member of the VFW Post 798
of Newport and the American Legion Post 58 of St. Johnsbury.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Laferriere and husband John of St. Johnsbury; a
daughter in-law, Jill Deming of Nashua, N.H.; four grandchildren: Brian and Renee Laferriere,
Bruce and Wendy Laferriere, Joshua and Emily Ross and Jodi and Jason Gaudreau; six
great-grandchildren: Ethan, Eric, Evelyn, Sophie, Rosalyn and Tayla; two brothers, Melvin Ash
and wife Bernice of St. Johnsbury and Rodney Ash of Waterford; a brother in-law, Donald Lewis
of Littleton, N.H.; a sister in-law, Gertrude Lowrey of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her step father, Albert Ash; her husband Walter in 1983;
her son Denis Ross in 1999; her sister in-law, Pat Ash; and two sisters, Elva Lewis and Alberta
Moore and her husband James.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery in
St. Johnsbury with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Gaudreau officiating. There will be no calling hours.
