Joan Sizen Drown, age 71, of St. Johnsbury, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, with her family at her side. She had resided at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center since August. She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, on Feb. 12, 1944, the daughter of the late Earle and Mildred (Hawkins) Sizen. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1962. Joan worked for many years for Zuccaro, Willis, and Bent. She also worked as a bookkeeper for St. Johnsbury Academy, St. Johnsbury Beverage, Caledonia North Supervisory Union, retiring from Dr. Brody's office in 2006. Joan and Lenny loved camping with a special group of friends. She loved having cookouts, going to yard sales, and reading by the hour. She felt fortunate to have traveled to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and parts of Mexico. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Lenny of St. Johnsbury; two daughters: Georgia Greenwood and husband Garth of Lunenburg, Tammi Stahler and husband Dwight of Lyndonville; Lenny's two children: Duane Drown of St. Johnsbury, Danielle Drown and Brandon Foster of Newbury; six grandchildren: Kyle Greenwood and wife Jennifer of St. Johnsbury, Katelyn Greenwood and Chris Watkins II of St. Johnsbury, Nicholas Stahler of Lyndonville, Brandon Drown of St. Johnsbury, Rylee Drown of St. Johnsbury, and Alaura Foster of Newbury; four great- grandchildren: Ainsley, Christopher III, Carter, and Carlie; brothers-in-law Nathan Daniels of Somers, Conn., Ronald Drown and wife Patricia of Miles Pond; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Norman, Gary, and Cleon Sizen, and a sister Clare Daniels; also by two nieces Geneva Granger and Lenore Daniels, and two nephews Robert and James Sizen; and her mother-in-law Ruth Drown. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home Tuesday, Oct. 6, evening from 6-8 p.m. and will conclude with a brief prayer service led by friend, the Rev. Susan Mackay. Graveside services will be held at the Danville Green Cemetery Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. Following the service everyone is invited to the St. Johnsbury Elks Lodge on Western Ave. in St. Johnsbury for a luncheon beginning at noon. Memorial contributions, earmarked for the "Employee Benefit Fund" and payable to St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center, could be directed to 1248 Hospital Dr., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
