WAYNE: Nancy J. , 52, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at the
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. The
daughter of Roland and Ruth Gibson Emmons, she was born May 10, 1949 in St. Johnsbury.
Nancy attended Barnet schools and graduated
from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1967. She graduated from
nursing school in Lowell, Mass., and worked for many years as a
registered nurse at Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport, Pa.,
prior to her returning to St. Johnsbury two years ago. Nancy enjoyed
quilting, therapeutic horseback riding for disabled children and
gardening. Her children were most important in her life. Nancy is
survived by three children, Eli of St. Johnsbury, Timothy of Kutztown,
Pa., and Julia of St. Johnsbury; her mother, Ruth Emmons of Monroe,
N.H.; two brothers, Keith of Barnet, and Curtis of Monroe; two sisters,
Marjorie Anderson of Monroe, and Judith Hayward of Dayton, Maine;
and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
father in 1991. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. at
the North Congregational Church, with the Rev. Jay Sprout officiating.
Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Barnet. The
family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the
Sayles Funeral Home, located at 525 Summer Street, St. Johnsbury.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Nancy's
name to the American Cancer Society, 11 Loomis St., Montpelier, VT 05602.
