Albert Arthur Dauphin died Sept. 8, 2013 at age 60, according to his brother, Paul Dauphin. He was gay and had been a Washington resident. He died of pneumonia complicated by CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy). Born to the late Everett and Florence Dauphin on May 22, 1953 in St. Johnsbury, Vt., Dauphin graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1971 and received a bachelor's degree in history from Lyndon State College in 1975. Dauphin was in the hospitality business until he became disabled in 2002. He began his career with Tauk Tours in 1975 and continued his association with them for 15 years as a tour director and manager. He was in various sales and conference director positions in the hotel industry during the later years prior to his retirement. His last position was with the Radisson Barcelo Hotel of Washington as its director of group sales. Dauphin was predeceased by his life partner of 15 years, Charles B. Tarver, IV. His loving sister Joanne Bandy also predeceased him. He leaves behind a loving brother and sister-in-law, Paul and LaWanda Dauphin of Sanford, N.C.; brother-in-law Vern and his children Kenneth, Donald, John and James; niece Denise, her husband Richard Pender and their children Alexis, Riley and Ian; Dauphin was in the hospitality business until he became disabled in 2002. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Whitman-Walker Health of Washington. A memorial service will be held at the Unity Fellowship Church DC (502 Rhode Island Ave. N.W.) at 11 a.m., Saturday. Dauphin will later be interred with his parents and sister, Joanne, in St. Johnsbury, Vt.
