José Elliott D’Leon, 26, of Florence, AL, formerly of St. Johnsbury, VT, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at his home in Alabama. José was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, September 11, 1991, son to Armando D’Leon, Sr. and Tammi (Rogers) Parker. He was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury, attending Good Shepherd Catholic School and graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 2009. José liked nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed swimming, snowboarding, and especially loved mountain biking. He spent one summer with his friend on the Passumpsic River ‘Huck Finn-ing it’. He liked to travel and had visited Washington, DC and Korea. José loved music, reading, and animals. He was also quite skilled at playing video games. He had been working as a clerk in a convenience store in Florence. José is survived by his parents, his mother: Tammi Parker (Lester) of South Ryegate, VT; his father: Armando D’Leon, Sr. (Zelia) of West Palm Beach, FL; maternal grandfather: Steve Rogers of W. Newbury, VT; paternal grandfather: Angel Salvador Ortiz Peguero of Azu?a, Dominican Republic; a brother: Armando D’Leon, Jr. (Samantha) of St. Johnsbury, VT; and a sister: Ana D’Leon (Chelsea Pillsbury) of St. Johnsbury, VT. Guests may call on the family on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, 6-8PM at Sayles Funeral Home on Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Curtis Miller will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, 11AM, at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury, VT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in José's name to NEK Youth Services, 24 Bagley Street, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819
