Agnes R. Shaw, 100, formerly of The Gary Home in Montpelier, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at
Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. She was born in Peacham on May 8, 1909, to Frank G. and Nellie
(Blair) Shaw. She attended Peacham Elementary school and Peacham Academy. She graduated with a
Bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont in 1931 and earned her Master's degree from
Cornell University. Agnes taught school in Cabot, Thetford Academy and St. Johnsbury Academy
from 1931 to 1971. She was a member of the Peacham Congregational Church, the Vermont Retired
Teacher's Association, Washington County Retired Teachers, AARP, Women of Bethany, and Delta
Kappa Gamma. She is survived by her sister, Katherine, of Montpelier and several nieces and
nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Marrion Shaw and her brother, Gilbert Shaw. A graveside
service will be held at the Peacham Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to
