Beatrice Adah "Betty" Minot, 89, Bath, N.H., passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, N.H. She was born in Lyndonville, Vt., Feb. 8, 1929, the daughter of Percy M. and Ruth (Barnard) Rainey. Betty graduated from Lyndon Institute, class of 1946 and Brightlook Nursing School, class of 1949. She married Alden W. Minot on Oct. 15, 1950. After graduating from nursing school, she worked from 1950 to 1954 as Registered Nurse at the old Cottage Hospital in Woodsville. In 1954, she began a lifelong career with Dr. Harry Rowe at the Wells River Clinic, Wells River, Vt., retiring in 2002. Betty was a member of the Bath Congregational Church and Women's Fellowship, as well as serving as the Bath Sunday school superintendent for over 40 years. She was active with the Bath Historical Society and Friends of Bath. Betty and Alden helped organize the Bath Community Christmas Party. In 1972, with Alden's help, she was a founder of the Cottage Hospital Volunteer Ambulance Service. Together they taught First Aid and CPR courses for over 10 years. She was also a member of the Grafton County Farm Bureau and was a 4-H Dairy Project Leader for the Bath Braves and Bath Milk Moovers. She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Rainey and Guy Rainey. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Alden W. Minot of Bath; a son, William A. Minot I and wife Brenda of Bath; a grandson, William A. Minot II and wife Dianne and their children, Jonas W. and Grace R. of Bath; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Friday, March 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, N.H. A memorial service will be on Saturday, March 24, at 11 a.m., at the Bath Congregational Church, Bath, N.H., with Rev. Lyn O. Winter, officiating.
