MERRILL

My name is Cynthia K (Merrill) Hill. I live in Redmond, Oregon. This Sept. my sister's and I plan to bring our father, Zadoc Ensign Merrill IV, to visit your area.

According to our family records, (that includes old pictures, report cards, family letters family bible, and the original deeds for property purchased in Grafton in 1832, 1834 and 1837, and lots 8, 12, and the northern part of lot 13.)

Our great great grandparents lived in your area for many years begining in the late 1700's. After moving from the Newburyport Mass area where they settled after leaving England in the 1620s. Many of the children in the early 1800s attended school in Peacham. Moses and Isabella (Hogg) Merrill and their son Zadoc and Lydia (Clark) Merrill are listed in the 1850 census for Danville. Is it possible to find that address? We would like to drive by their old homes if they are still there?

We would also like to visit the Danville Green Cemetery where Sally C Merrill was buried in 1854, next to her baby brother Moses, who died when he was 1 month old in 1843. Isabella (Hogg) Merrill died in 1851.

Zadoc and Lydia (Clark) Merrill and their family moved to Pardeeville Wisconsin within a year after their 21 year old daughter Sally died in July of 1854.

The father, Moses Merrill, apparently stayed behind and died in 1862 while visiting his daughter in Stanstead Canada in 1862. We have lots of old records to share with your organization, if you are interested and we hope we can find out more from you, to show our dad.

Thank you,
Cindy Hill
